As per comment 4 the binfilter has intentionally been removed upstream (and it wont come back, good riddance). There might be a reimplementation as part of the document liberation project, if there are volunteers or sponsoring. But otherwise support for the old binary formats has ended. **

Thanks for updating the description. LibreOffice 4 no longer supports the old file-format. (see: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.0#Feature_removal_.2F_deprecation). Abiword opens, but the contents are not, what I wrote. It woult be to much work to correct. My workaround
