shows leaving me with a black screen. Both systems use AMD hardware and
run the default, open source, radeon driver. The desktop is a standard
AMD GPU and the laptop is an AMD E-350 APU.

Indeed there might still be an issue here, mpv is not listed, but it's
not recommanded in gvfs-mime --query video/x-ogm+ogg either so it
might be a different reason.

Hey guys! If you are like me and just use windows on a virtual
machine(virtualbox) to sync idevices , the way i found to use it is : on
ubuntu i put vboxusers in my group(users and groups). After that
I don't have another USB scanner, but the power saving mode switching is
possible as my device does that. It's a brother MFC-8480DN if that
helps at all. I can't remember the exact details.

could user having the issue run nmcli dev wifi list and share the
