This patch was applied to Debian testing and zesty in 1.4.2-3ubuntu1. For yakkety, this is an update to 1.2.6. Once 1.2.6 has been in use for a while without new problems, we'll look into doing a separate SRU for Xenial. [Test Case] After installing the updated version, users should be able to avoid some mem leaks in some cases and have generally improved DNS related experiences. [Regression Potential] This version has been in yakkety for sometime, and there's no report of regressions until now. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1652350] Re: Having issues with the system in general
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652350 Title: Having issues with the system in general Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: when I boot, the system acts as if there is something wrong, and displays a whole lot of issues. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 49579 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/49579 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 49579, so it is being marked as such. This is a fundamental bug in the design of X11 and cannot be easily fixed within X11. You should manually lock your screen if a locked session is important to you. Please continue to report any other bugs you may find. ** Information type changed from Public Security to Public ** Changed in: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 49579 screen doesn't lock when some menu is open -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1651033 Title: Virtual Box gives the user a few seconds to do stuff before locking Status in gnome-screensaver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I had a Windows 10 image running on Virtual Box, and I restarted the Windows 10 image on virtual box, and left the computer (host and guest) alone. When I came back, my monitors were turned off (like, in sleep mode) like they were in sleep mode. When I typed in a few keys to get everything to wake up again, I was typing into my Windows 10 image my account password. But then, I moved my mouse over to the other monitor (the host OS - Ubuntu Linux LTS 16.04), and started doing stuff on my web browser (Google Chrome), a few seconds after, the screen locked (almost like if the computer has a brain fart and was like "oh shit, this was supposed to be locked. Let me fix my mistake.") and I had to type in the password for the host operating system. Doesn't this mean that the user had a few unauthorized seconds to do stuff on the host OS, before being locked out? Hopefully I explained this well. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1130571] Re: wired network disabled after resume (AR9485)
I also have this problem on several machines running Ubuntu 16.04. After resume from suspend no IPv4 address is assigned to the network interfaces (both wired and wireless). Seems to be not related to hardware or driver but to NetworkManager. Maybe this (known) problem is corrected in version 1.2.6 (see change log). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1130571 Title: wired network disabled after resume (AR9485) Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have both a wired network and wireless. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1600783] Re: Not translated string
Deja-dup seems already 100% translated in French in the .po file, besides I have not found this particular string (although I have found a very similar string, "Another backup operation is already running", which is translated). I though that is was an internationalization issue but have not found either any reference to "An operation is already pending" in the source code. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1652243] Re: Times for other locations shows up as AM & PM not "24-hour time"
Well, the principal GUI way to change language and locale is via System Settings -> Language Support. https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/session-formats.html I could have suggested you to switch to the Regional Formats tab there and select something else but "English (United States)". But then also the number format, currency and other stuff had been affected. The environment above shows that you have selected English (US) as the display language and indicates that you are located in the US, so I assumed that you preferred a minimum change. Bottom line is: Things like date and time format is generally locale dependent with a few exceptions where you can control it in respective application, and the time format of the en_US.UTF-8 locale is 12 hour with AM/PM. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652243 Title: Times for other locations shows up as AM & PM not "24-hour time" Status in unity-control-center package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: When you select "24-hour time" in Time & Date --> Clock. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1652325] [NEW] Libxml2 2.9.3 fails to parse multi-byte character in large CDATA section that is split across buffer
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 16.04 packages libxml2 version 2.9.3*, which contains a regression documented here: https://git.gnome.org/browse/libxml2/commit/?id=4f8606c13cb7f2684839f850b83de5ce647d3ca7 Full release notes of 2.9.4 can be seen here: http://xmlsoft.org/news.html The bug will affect XML push parser that fails with bogus UTF-8 encoding error when multi-byte character in large CDATA section is split across buffer, which can be quite common. As Xenial is an LTS version and this bug is quite *critical*, I wonder if we should provide an update to fix this one. If I remember correctly, we're not supposed to update to a newer version a given package for a given version of Ubuntu, but as this version of Ubuntu will be used in many servers in the coming years and XML parsing is quite a common task, it may help a lot of developers to have a backported fix of this issue. I added two external monitors connected to DP sockets in the docking station. I would like to have display shift to those two monitors when the laptop is docked. One monitor has native resolution of 1680x1050 and the other is 1920x1080. The laptop native resolution is 1920x1080. Expected result: laptop monitor shut off, two external monitors running in native resolution, display shared on both monitors (not mirrored). Process: I configured the display using the "Displays" applet in the unity control center. However, pressing "Apply" when changing a specific display setting (such as resolution, location of screen relative to others, turning on/off), results in a long period of darkness, usually followed by display falling back to mirroring of all 3 monitors, using a similar-size screen (either low on all or high on all with the low-res monitor using panning). The applet remains frozen for some time, with the dialog "Is the display ok" open but unresponsive. Later I realized this is because there is another dialog of "Cannot set screen CRTCXXX" hidden under the two above windows, which needs to by ok-ed first. Extra: I also tried setting the display manually with 'xrandr', which lead to a similar result as above - with the "cannot set screen" dialog, and falling back to mirroring. This convinced me that the problem is probably with the nvidia driver and not the higher plumbing. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1623585] Re: Toolbar is blank
This bug is really annoying and nothing seems to be done to fix it... whereas the solution exists! I don't understand. I've tried to enable yakkety-proposed but NO update. I tried andersk ppa, same result, nothing. I don't have time to get sources and compile emacs (and when I read you, it doesn't seem to be that easy), I just want a working solution with icons on emacs. Where can I find the 24.5+1-7ubuntu1 version if it is not in yakkety-proposed (or tell me how to really get it: I activate this source in source.list but no updates are never proposed, not even mentioned by apt-cache policy) ? apt-cache policy emacs24 emacs24: Installé : 24.5+1-6ubuntu3 Candidat : 24.5+1-6ubuntu3 Table de version : *** 24.5+1-6ubuntu3 500 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to emacs24 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1623585 Title: Toolbar is blank Status in emacs24 package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in emacs24 package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: Emacs 24.5+1-6ubuntu1 in xenial does not display the gtk toolbar correctly. Maybe even active window loses focus, but window frame does not shows this (window header remains to look active). For example: when I press ctrl+shift here to switch keyboard layout, when writing this description, yellow frame disappears from text input box, text caret disappears too; they appear again when releasing ctrl+shift. The same occurs in all other programs, i.e. terminal. It causes serious annoyance, for example in Twitter when losing focus in Reply text box, reply rolls up and I have to click it again with mouse and set caret to correct place each time I switch keyboard layouts. Other key combinations, not only ctrl+shift, also cause this. It is especially annoying when using keyboard layout switch shortcut handled by the same subsystem (media-keys plugin): case SWITCH_INPUT_SOURCE_KEY: case SWITCH_INPUT_SOURCE_BACKWARD_KEY: do_switch_input_source_action (manager, type); break; (Original gnome-settings-daemon, from which unity-settings-daemon was forked, does not use media-keys plugin to switch keyboard layout). -- For other layout switching problems introduced in Ubuntu 13.10 you can see bug 1218322. -- ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: gnome-session 3.9.90-0ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Oct 24 11:42:19 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-23 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: gnome-session UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1244090/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1652272] [NEW] Firefox suddenly loses internet connection
Public bug reported: Since earlier today I have found that after about 10 minutes or less of using Firefox that suddenly for no apparent reason pages will refuse to load any contents, and although Firefox does not take me to the page which says it can't reach the site, it doesn't manage to load anything as though its internet connection has suddenly been lost. It won't even let me check for updates for plugins and gives an error for that. I have tested with other applications such as ping and the internet connection is fine, it's just Firefox which loses it. I have noticed that when I run firefox from Terminal that this is the output to begin with: 1482487989643 addons.webextension.fire...@ghostery.comWARN Loading extension 'fire...@ghostery.com': Reading manifest: Error processing background.persistent: Event pages are not currently supported. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1648337] Re: There's no way to launch terminal tab under chosen profile
If I change that selection, all terminal will open in tabs only. Same problem from another aspect. What's wrong in keeping possibility to open in either way, without changing the preferences every time I need the other option? Also, there's still no possibility to assign a shortcut, to either/both the above options. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1648337 Title: There's no way to launch terminal tab under chosen profile Status in gnome-terminal package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: In Ubuntu 14.04, gnome-terminal had menu item, allowing to launch terminal tab using selected profile (from File menu). I have exactly the same problem on Ubuntu 16.10 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screenshot in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625773 Title: Segfault when using -w / --window to screenshot current window. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1652243] Re: Times for other locations shows up as AM & PM not "24-hour time"
It's because AM/PM is set in the en_US.UTF-8 locale, which controls the time format at most places on your desktop, including the time notations for those locations. One way to fix it is to open the ~/.profile file for editing and append the line: export LC_TIME=en_DK.UTF-8 (But that will affect e.g. date format as well.) ** Changed in: unity-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652243 Title: Times for other locations shows up as AM & PM not "24-hour time" Status in unity-control-center package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: When you select "24-hour time" in Time & Date --> Clock.
