I tried the 18.04 beta today starting a live session with the suggested boot

In my machine matplotlib by default selects the "TkAgg" backend. I
worked around this freezing problem by selecting the "gtk3" backend
instead, as in 'ipython3 --pylab=gtk3'. I had to install

The onscreen keyboard is rarely appearing. It's working on the login
screen, it's working on the search engine of gnome, but not any other
