Title:
Nautilus crash while searching NTFS partition over Samba

Status in Nautilus:
  Fix Released
Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I have a NAS server with NTFS disks.

A few days ago I did a fresh installation of Kubuntu 19.04, then I
installed Nautilus because it is my experience that it handles better
this usage scenario. I also installed the smbclient.

When I try to do a file search, eventually Nautilus crashes.
It seems to me that the first file search always goes fine. When I try to do
a second search without closing the search bar (ie, updating the search
keywords), Nautilus crashes. If I close the search bar after a search, and then
I reopen it to do another search, everything works as expected.

Note: this only happens while searching NTFS partitions over Samba. If
I search inside NTFS partitions of my local PC, everything works as
  expected.

Totem crashes (most of the time) when opening a video file. When it
does crash, it crashes before playing the video at all.

It doesn't crash often when being run under gdb, profilers, or other
utilities that may slow down execution. That indicated it may be a
threading issue or race condition, and after digging deeper the issue
is evident from the assert message.

[xcb] Unknown sequence number while processing queue
[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not
been called
    [xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.

A similar issue happened in SDL, where XInitThreads was *supposed* to
be called but wasn't called early enough, specifically by the NVIDIA
libGL implementation which I also happen to be using.

(Attempted to use apport to report this, but for some reason it
doesn't want to upload or show me the report. I've included the gdb

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1982560] Re: Mouse lag/stutter (missed frames) in Wayland sessions

2022-12-23 Thread Andreas Hoornstra
Hi Daniel and Francesco, neither of the two options given seem to work
in my case. Hardware: Dell XPS Plus 9320 (i7 1260P, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD,
4K+ 60Hz 500 nit LCD). Software: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. If more information
is needed, feel free to ask. I think I'll switch back to X11 and maybe
try Touchégg to still get gesture support, as X11 works a lot smoother.

Hello,
also impacted here :)
Ubuntu 22.04 + a few different Window Manager (my main is i3wm, and here is the
initial investigation: https://github.com/i3/i3/issues/5059)
Programs affected by the issue are Firefox and Chromium.

On this thread a temporary workaround has been found for Firefox while waiting
for the fix
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1968887
set the `widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker` to `0` in the
`about:config` in Firefox.

Thanks in advance for the work :)
Cheers

Alt + Tab gives focus to the always-on-top window

Status in Mutter:

Bug description:
With an always-on-top window opened, Alt + Tab will, instead of giving
(keyboard) focus to the chosen window, focus will go to the always-on-
  top window.

  Reproducing steps:
  1. Make sure your Ubuntu session is a Wayland session.
  2. Open Firefox. Make sure it uses Wayland, launch with `env
MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 firefox`.
  3. Play a YouTube video, and then clicks the Picture-in-Picture buttton.
  4. Due to Wayland limitation, right-click on the PiP window and choose
"Always on top".
  5. Open another window of anything e.g. a terminal.
  6. Press Alt + Tab to switch to the browser.

Expected result: focus goes to the browser. If on YouTube, you should be able
to press '/' and cursor should go to the search box.
Actual result: focus goes to the PiP window.

This also happens if e.g. you use Alt + Shift to change keyboard
  languages.

The system is Ubuntu 22.04 running Gnome-shell-based, Wayland, Ubuntu
  session.

With different AMD CPU`s (Ryzon family 36000XT, 3800XT, 3900X, 5600X)
and B450 and B550 chipsets i am getting the same issue when i lock the

motherboard chipset (H270), this issue is not present. I was able to
wake up the PC from idle without any problems.
