Title:
gnome-online-accounts -> when signing into google account, infinite
  loading after entering password

Status in gnome-online-accounts package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  1) What you expected to happen
  - sign in is successful, which will allow google services to populate the
appropriate applications (calendar, mail, google drive)

  2) What actually happened
  - sign in hangs infinitely after entering the password
  - the process is able to detect that the password is correct or incorrect.
When entering an incorrect password, it will correctly and quickly complain
that the password is incorrect. When entering the correct password, the bug
will occur.

  3) Steps to reproduce
    a) start the program
    b) select online accounts
    c) select google
    d) enter email
    e) enter password
    f) loads forever

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2039235] Re: gnome-online-accounts -> when signing into google account, infinite loading after entering password

2023-10-21 Thread Ryan Chew
I am facing this issue on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS as well so I suspect that
this is not related to the operating system per se but more of the
package and how it interacts with google. I have attached my
dependencies as well as my full cpuinfo.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2040068] Re: Can't connect my Synology NAS from Ubuntu 22.04

2023-10-21 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

Title:
Can't connect my Synology NAS from Ubuntu 22.04

Status in gvfs package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I purchased a Synology DS723+ NAS (under DSM 7.2-64570).
I access it without any problem from a Huawei MateBook 14s running Ubuntu
22.04.

I can't do it, however, from an Acer Swift 5 also running Ubuntu 22.04.
Seen from this PC, I get the following message:
  "Unable to access location
Failed to get list of shares from server: Invalid argument."

When I look at my NAS log, the connection attempt gives the following message:
"Host [192.168.1.22] failed to connect via [SMB] due to [SMB1 not permitted]."

While the message obtained after a successful connection with the other PC is
the following:
"User [xxx] from [xxx(192.168.1.36)] via [CIFS(SMB3)] accessed shared folder
[Photos]."

I tried to compare the differences between the 2 PCs running Ubuntu 22.04
without success.
Samba was not initially installed on the Acer Swift 5 initially, but the
installation did not correct the problem.
After reading different posts, I understand that the SMB1 connection is
disabled by default since Ubuntu 20.04: I therefore do not understand why the
Acer Swift 5 seems to connect like that.

And when I run "journalctl -f" on my Acer and then try to connect to the NAS,
here is what I get:
  oct. 09 21:56:32 xxx gvfsd[9205]: smbXcli_negprot_smb1_done: No compatible
protocol selected by server.
  oct. 09 21:56:47 xxx gvfsd[9205]: smbXcli_negprot_smb1_done: No compatible
protocol selected by server.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2040073] Re: package firefox 119.0+build2-0ubuntu0.23.04.1~mt1 failed to install/upgrade: new firefox package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2023-10-21 Thread Erich Eickmeyer
firefox 119.0+build2-0ubuntu0.23.04.1~mt1

This version of this package doesn't exist within the Ubuntu
repositories. The version provided by Ubuntu is a transitional package
which installs the snap package provided directly by Mozilla.

Since the version of Firefox installed was unable to upgrade to this
version, it created an impossible situation and caused an error and is
completely unsupported.

Therefore, this bug is being closed as invalid.

The "MEMORY-ERROR" message appears in ~/.xsession-errors rather than
syslog for me, but it's also the same random crashing of gnome-
characters that causes the application to suddenly exit; relevant lines
in ~/.xsession-errors:

Title:
PulseAudio doesn't start by logging in after a standby

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Often when I log in after a standby PulseAudio doesn't play any audio, the
service is working but no audio is heard. I noticed that when this happens, if
I adjust volume the system shows Dummy Output instead of the usual speaker
small window. Also, one day when I was having right this issue I simply took a
screenshot to a game that I was playing and audio was played 廊.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2019045] Re: [snap] New Ubuntu font with normal weight displayed as bold in Google Docs in Chromium after upgrading to Lunar

2023-10-21 Thread Andrea Ieri
I can confirm this is still happening in mantic, using the following
versions:

chromium 118.0.5993.88
fonts-ubuntu 0.869-0ubuntu1

Title:
[snap] New Ubuntu font with normal weight displayed as bold in Google
Docs in Chromium after upgrading to Lunar

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged
Status in fonts-ubuntu package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am experiencing a rendering regression after upgrading from Kinetic to
Lunar.
Google Docs using the Ubuntu font family are displayed incorrectly in
Chromium: the normal weight font is rendered identically to the bold weight
one, instead of being thicker than light and thinner than medium.

Printing is also affected, unless I use Google Docs' download to PDF
function, although that probably triggers a server-side rendering.

This issue does not occur in Firefox or Google Chrome.

One thing that may be relevant: if I force-refresh my test Google Doc
I see all four Ubuntu font lines initially being rendered as bold. The
light and medium lines are then re-rendered with the correct weight.
It's as if bold was the default weight and the normal variant
  disappeared.

As far as I can tell I was already running Chromium 112.0.5615.49 in
Kinetic, and with Chromium being a snap I don't quite understand why
  the Ubuntu series would matter.

I have also tried version 114.0.5735.16 (in latest/beta at the
  moment); the symptoms are identical.

The attachments show the rendering error.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2039868]

2023-10-21 Thread jer
Hello, I'm having this same issue with my thinkpad z16 laptop, Ryzen
6850H and Radeon RX 6500M graphics card.

I do not use the laptop for gaming but for audio and video editing. I
have not had trouble with any video editing software but I can easily
reproduce the issue by loading up Ardour or Mixbus32C and either leaving
it alone or working. After 15 minutes the screen freezes although audio
will continue for a time. At this point Ardour or Mixbus will close and
I can continue using the machine. If I load up either program again it
will fail again, usually within a couple minutes and the whole laptop
will freeze up until I ctrl-alt-F2 to get to a terminal prompt.

The issue always happens when Im recording audio with an HDMI device
attached and 90% of the time without HDMI

I will attempt to set this kernel parameter amdgpu.mcbp=0 and report
back.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2000275] Re: evince neither prints nor previews postscript documents

2023-10-21 Thread Ubfan
The actual permissions on the socket that the error complains about:
$ ls -l /run/user/1000/at-spi/bus_1
srwxrwxrwx 1 usern usern 0 Oct 21 09:02 /run/user/1000/at-spi/bus_1

I do have the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package installed, but even ps files
with no fonts do not display:
A line drawn on the page show on the evince initial display page but no
preview, no printer output.
$ cat tst.ps
%!PS
newpath
72 72 moveto
200 200 lineto
stroke
showpage

The printer is an HP Officejet J3680 All-In-One (obsolete), but other
programs do successfully print ps to it.

In the past, I used evince to print my ps files, but now I have to use
qpdfview (text files generated by a2ps).

Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
evince does successfully display a ps document, but when attempting to print
or preview (whether to a file or printer) fails, with either a blank page (for
print) or blank window (for preview) produced, and some error output at the

succeeds in the print preview, but with the same warning (see below examples)
so the warning may not be important.

Screen display works for ps files, but a

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2040068] [NEW] Can't connect my Synology NAS from Ubuntu 22.04

2023-10-21 Thread Raphaël de LABARTHE
Public bug reported:

I purchased a Synology DS723+ NAS (under DSM 7.2-64570).
I access it without any problem from a Huawei MateBook 14s running Ubuntu 22.04.

Remote Desktop causes system to think ctrl and alt are pressed

Status in vino package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Not sure what package this actually occurs in, but I am using Hardy
presently though I have had this happen in Gutsy as well. Occasionally
when using vncviewer to connect to Remote Desktop (vino-server I
believe), the system behaves as if ctrl, alt, or quite possibly both
are pressed. I can fix this by pressing the keys on the keyboard but
often the same thing will happen when I try to use the physical
computer in question after connecting remotely where I have to press
ctrl and/or alt before I can use the keyboard properly. This only
happens when connecting remotely or after having been connected
  remotely.

Unable to reproduce this consistently, yet it happens reasonably
  often.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2040047] [NEW] Removing Python modules causes the removal of Xorg

2023-10-21 Thread Sergiu Bivol
Public bug reported:

I tried to remove python3-keyring and was surprised to see that this would
cause the removal of xorg and sddm.
The dependency chain is something like: python3-keyring <- python3-launchpadlib
<- python3-apport <- xserver-xorg <- sddm.

It is completely unexpected and potentially embarrassing to end up with
no graphical desktop after removing a random Python library.

python3-apport should not be a hard dependency of xserver-xorg.

2023-10-21 Thread Affenputtel
I forgot to mention that there are other programs that cause the same crash,
maybe they use chromium code? For example:
https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.Bavarder.Bavarder

There were other programs, but can only remember that super tux cart has
a problem alike. Only if in the game in graphics settings "
lightscattering or ambientocclusion " is activated

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2040046] [NEW] unmount button, loosing data writing to flash, terminal sync command

2023-10-21 Thread Affenputtel
Public bug reported:

When i write data to external flash, and use the nautlius unmount button
and remove the drive then the data is corrupted!

I have to run terminal sync command, and as long as it runs the file has
not been completely transferred.

I consider this a bug.
