[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1300393] Re: Connected external monitor causes very high cpu usage by compiz

2014-04-06 Thread Christian S.
** Description changed:

- Steps to reproduce: connect a external monitor an login to unity - the
- cpu usage of compiz increases insanely high by just moving some window
- around. In this state unity is not really usable.
+ When a external monitor is connected at login, cpu usage of compiz is
+ very high and the system is not usable.

- There is no difference if the external monitor is used for output or
- not. It just have to be connected when login. And there are no problems
- when the monitor is unconnected when login and connected after.
+ There is no difference whether the external monitor is used for output
+ or not. It just have to be connected when login. There are no problems
+ when the monitor is not connected when login and connected afterwards.

OK you are right. I opened a ticket for those the fix in comment #6 does not
work and the issue appears when a external monitor is connected when login
(e.g. as described in #77 and 76):

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1222602] Re: [regression] [gen3] Mesa 9.2 makes Unity unusable on Atom class hardware and 943/945 graphics controllers

2014-03-30 Thread Christian S.
For your crt/lcd monitor - maybe this issue depends on the resolution
of the external screen.

Does appear that issue if you have connected your screen at boot-time,
then disconnected when the lightdm login screen is showing and you
logged in (without connected external screen)?

Today I had the problem again. Booted and did login (external monitor connected
over vga but not used for output)- high compiz cpu usage
logged out and in again - high cpu
disonnected monitor, logged out, logged in - normal compiz cpu usage
again logged out/in - normal compiz cpu usage
connected monitor again, logged out/in - high compiz cpu usage again (still
the external monitor is not used for output)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1222602] Re: [regression] [gen3] Mesa 9.2 makes Unity unusable on Atom class hardware and 943/945 graphics controllers

2014-03-29 Thread Christian S.
@Stephan you are now the 3. or 4. who has this issue when an external
screen is connected at booting. That seems to call for a new ticket. But
I installed todays updates (14.04), rebooted and all good. Currently
compiz does not use 50% of cpu power any longer.

Bug description:
The following stream, which I have saved in Radio:

  http://radioclasica.rtve.stream.flumotion.com/rtve/radioclasica.mp3.m3u

used to play perfectly (heard it daily) with the previous version of
rhythmbox, but after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.04 which brought a new
version does not play any more. Some other streams still play
  perfectly, for instance:

  http://www.catmusica.cat/directes/catmusica_wm.m3u

After clicking the radio nothing happens, it doesn't play the stream
or produces any other message whatsoever

WORKAROUND: Run the command sudo killall gvfsd-http after playing a

Title:
Nautilus cut, copy, paste, move and rename options are greyed out and
  stop working

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The problem appears while using the mouse trying to copy or cut /
paste links, folders or files from one location to another. After the
mouse-right-click drop-down menu selection of 'copy' or 'cut' the
second stage - right-click 'paste' (to the desired location) - is
greyed out and the selected files won't move/copy. Key combinations
  CTRL-X, CTRL-C, CTRL-V don't work either.

However dragging and dropping with the mouse allways works perfectly.
Also using SHIFT + drag with the mouse works correctly.

The files are on the local network on a nfs v3-server (Ubuntu 10.04).
Permissions are correct and chmod is 755 (as it has always been). This
problem came with the Ubuntu 11.10 workstation and has never occurred
before. The workstation was upgraded from 10.10 to 11.10 by CD,
formatting / (ext4) and leaving Home unformatted (ext4). I am using
  Unity-2D.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1224423] [NEW] [saucy] gnome-panel does not start automatically on gnome-session-flashback login

2013-09-12 Thread Christian S.
Public bug reported:

The gnome-panel in saucy does not start automatically after login into
gnome-session-flashback resulting in a rather limited desktop experience.
(I blamed the gnome flashback package instead of gnome-panel because it is
possible to launch it manually in flashback mode.)

Steps to reproduce:
- install sauce daily build from 11.9.13
- update system
- install gnome-session-flashback
- logout and login into gnome flashback - no panel
