I found that this same issue also appears when using Salience, a third-
party GTK theme. Maybe any GTK theme with dark toolbars would be

I am also having a problem with this, as this issue shows up when using
the Salience GTK theme. Makes app titles and descriptions nearly
unreadable. I only just came across this issue while doing a Google
search looking for ideas on how to fix this through the theme itself.

I get the exact same problem with rhythmbox-client --play and several
other options (--pause, --play-pause, etc.) on my Precise install.
Interestingly enough, rhythmbox-client --notify seems to be an exception
of sorts; it still refuses to work, but returns instead:

I am seeing the exact same behavior on my 12.04 desktop. If you leave
the Privacy screen and return to it, the Send error reports to
Canonical checkbox remains unchecked. Note that it does stay checked if
you just switch to another tab in the Privacy screen and return to it
without closing
@Pius Please don't change the bug status from Triaged to Confirmed
unless there's a reason for it. Triaged bugs are also confirmed by
definition. Also, Oneiric has already reached end-of-life status; do you
mean the bug is present in Ubuntu 14.04 instead?
