[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2028698] [NEW] desktop freezes when copying file to android phone

2023-07-25 Thread Götz Waschk
Public bug reported:

If you try to copy a file named a:b.m4b using the nautilus file manager
to a USB-connected Android phone in MTP mode, the desktop will freeze
until you disconnect the USB cable. Then you'll get an error from
nautilus:

"Fehler beim Kopieren von »a:b.m4b«.
Beim Kopieren der Datei nach mtp://Google_Pixel_7_291...
mer%Speicher/Audiobooks ist ein Fehler aufgetreten

libmtp-Fehler: Could not send object."

This happens when the file to be copied contains the colon symbol :

On Ubuntu 18.04, thunderbird 102.2.2+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 just does
nothing on startup. In the status line, you can read the name of one of
the mail accounts and that it is checking for server functionality.

I have tested 102.3.2 from thunderbird.net, after profile migration it
worked fine, so the bug is either in 102.2.2 or in the Ubuntu package.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1849346] Re: [snap] kerberos GSSAPI no longer works after deb->snap transition

but websites that used to work with SPNEGO/GSSAPI/kerberos no longer
work. I'm guessing the snap needs some sort of permission to use the
kerberos ticket cache (or the plumbing to do so doesn't exist...).

I can confirm that Chrome has the desired behavior.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1862027] [NEW] libreoffice fails to create locks on AFS directories

2020-02-05 Thread Götz Waschk
Public bug reported:

When I try to open a libreoffice document on a AFS directory that I have
full write permissions to and that is not over quota, I always get this
pop-up:

Document Could Not Be Locked

The lock file could not be created for exclusive access by LibreOffice,
due to missing permission to create a lock file on that file location or
lack of free disk space.

The lock file is created, but it has the size 0:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1815056] Re: deja-dup is aksing for the admin password

2019-12-10 Thread Götz Waschk
I forgot to add, that XDG_CACHE_HOME was redirected in this centrally
managed system to /tmp/.xdgcache-$USER, maybe that is of relevance?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1774188] Re: Unlocking the screen takes 5 seconds in Xorg sessions (not so much in Wayland sessions)

2018-06-07 Thread Götz Waschk
I think it got slower over time even under the Wayland session. I have
clocked the latest unlock time at 2.5 seconds, still rather slow.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1774188] Re: unlocking the screen takes 5 seconds

2018-06-04 Thread Götz Waschk
I guess the app indicator icons are the menus in the top-right corner. I have
these:
Accessibility
Input Language
Network
Speaker
Battery
The downward triangle that opens the menu

With wayland, the screen unlocking is much faster (about 1s total time).
