It's an instant showstopper for Windows 10 users as well, suggesting to
me that it's a hardware/driver problem. It has so much less resolution
compared to my old Samsung R580's touchpad! It's impossible to target

EDIT: I managed to fix this by using WPA instead of WEP, but if I did

Having Network Manager set to use dnsmasq doesn't get along very well

I have set the gtk-key-theme setting to use Emacs-style key bindings
using the following method:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-key-theme Emacs
(The setting is also visible through dconf-editor.)
Some applications respect the setting (eg Firefox), but others
The bug you're describing appears to be different, I don't even run
empathy. telepathy-indicator and /usr/lib/telepathy/mission-control-5
are running, but produce no load.
I did track down what appears to be my problem. Most of my problems
happened when dealing with gnome-terminal, particularly
Paul, xrandr-align (#10) works for me on my Lenovo Twist on 12.10.

Confirmed this affects at least Totem as well. So rhythmbox probably
wasn't the best place to file it. Sorry about that.

After talking about this with Ryan Lortie, he suggested disabling the
gnome-settings-daemon plugin:
$ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.gconf active false
$ gconftool --set
and running dconf update:
$ sudo vi /etc/dconf/db/site.d/screensaver
$ sudo dconf update
$ gconftool --get /desktop/gnome/sound/event_sounds
true
$ gconftool --get /apps/metacity/general/focus_mode
click

After a few days of uptime and usage on this laptop, the xorg process
will start randomly (but consistently over time) producing high CPU
usage, even with all applications closed. CPU according to top will
vary between about 10%

I also can't find any information in the log files.
A workaround is trivial but it does seem a bit strange...
