Christopher, support, trust, reputation do not work this way. Ubuntu neglect the bug for three years (!) as usual - which is a massive issue in itself - and then close the bug as invalid because the affected distro went EOL, with five releases being made since the report without someone seriously looking on the bug. I still have the document, and I suggest to test on 12.04 LTS instead of 14. I'm not uploading stuff that reveals some personal information to just everyone. I can provide it to anyone who makes plausible he is looking into the issue; however it appeared to me the cause is cancelling a print-in-progress that seems to be triggering a race condition, rather than the document itself. It renders properly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/957182 Title: evince assert failure: evince: /build/buildd/cairo-1.10.2/src/cairo- surface.c:385: _cairo_surface_begin_modification: Zusicherung »! surface-finished« nicht erfüllt. More importantly, -fuse-ld=gold per apt-get changelog binutils, here, does NOT work: binutils (2.23.52.20130722-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream snapshot. - Fix PR ld/15762, glibc being built without warning sections. * Set the libdir for arm64 to lib, not lib64. * Stop building the binutils-gold package, let binutils provide binutils-gold. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1370363] Re: deja-dup fails reporting Permission denied, no error logs anywhere
So, bottom line is that: 1. deja-dup is failing to procure the necessary SSH/SFTP password, 2. failing to report the fact it does not have the SSH/SFTP password, 3. not offering an alternative way of getting the password (it is in my ssh-agent but still...) 4. failing to properly report which access in particular was denied, and what deja-dup was trying to do. Keeping the UI simple is one thing, but not reporting errors in a useful way is not a useful simplification :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to deja-dup in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1370363 Title: deja-dup fails reporting Permission denied, no error logs anywhere Status in “deja-dup” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have had a working deja-dup setup under Ubuntu 12.04LTS. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 888898] Re: gs crashed with SIGSEGV in gx_pattern_load()
Now, since this is copyrighted material, I cannot easily add the printout file per the debug instructions; I can view the printout file - it is in PDF 1.5 format - just fine with gv (which should be using gs) and with gs (without any more arguments besides the file name) and with evince. I can either GnuPG encrypt the file, or send it to Till or other maintainers directly under the proviso it be handled confidentially. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ghostscript in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/98 Title: gs crashed with SIGSEGV in gx_pattern_load() Status in “ghostscript” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Happen on startup, only programs I was starting were Firefox and evolution. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 577985] Re: NM falsely believes networking to be disabled when all interfaces are unmanaged by NM
Well, since Network-Manager goofed up (in a different way) on Precise for me (bug filed separately), I deinstalled it again. Can someone else please confirm if this is fixed in Precise and answer to Mathieu's comment #5? ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577985 Title: NM falsely believes networking to be disabled when all interfaces are unmanaged by NM Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: network-manager Executive summary: network-manager does not consider the computer to be online if all connections are unmanaged. Details: I have a computer, upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04LTS. There is a regression WRT network-manager after upgrade, in that applications such as pidgin or firefox believe the computer to be off- line when in fact it has a working Internet connection through Ethernet. Firefox starts in off-line mode, and Pidgin waits for a connection before it even attempts connecting to the XMPP (Jabber) server. This behaviour was NOT observed with Ubuntu 9.10, but is NEW WITH 10.04LTS after upgrade. apt-cache policy: network-manager: Installed: 0.8-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 0.8-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 0.8-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status The computer uses a static network configuration through /etc/network/config. nm-tool (before uninstall) logged two unmanaged connections, eth0 and wlan0. The whole situation was unacceptable so I started looking for workarounds. The blunt obvious solution was purging all traces of network-manager from the computer and reboot. Now Firefox comes up in online mode, and Pidgin tries to connect to the XMPP server and succeeds. I would have expected that network-manager considered the computer to be online, even in the presence of only unmanaged connections, if at least one of those has link beat. To reproduce, try to load an external drive with plenty of stuff. I had the error with around 130 GB stuff each of the sizes 13 - 15 GB. Put the stuff in the Rubbish Bin and ask to delete it. Go to a folder in the external drive and look in the bottom, where the free space is show in figures. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 674612] Re: gconfd trashes configuration when disk is full
The bug report is for maverick, which continues to be supported into 2012. Even if the bug were fixed on natty it would persist on maverick, so there's no point in wasting time testing natty or oneiric betas. ** Changed in: gconf (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gconf in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/674612 Title: gconfd trashes configuration when disk is full Status in “gconf” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: gconf This isn't easy to reproduce, but has happened twice. Situation: 1. evolution starts (and with it gconfd) 2. disk is full 3. evolution is closed. 4. next time evolution is started, it starts the mail account setup wizard. The only remedy was to log out the affected user, shut down her gconfd, and restore the $HOME/.gconfd/ directory from backup. This leads to the conclusion that gconfd isn't sufficiently careful when rewriting configuration files such as $HOME/.gconfd/apps/evolution/mail/%gconf.xml. gconfd SHOULD write to a temporary file, fsync() and close it, and only then rename it over the old file. If it did that, only the configuration /CHANGES/ would have been lost, not the whole configuration as such.
