[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1726160] Re: On login, display rotates to wrong orientation [HP Pavilion]

2019-03-12 Thread Antonello
Problem in Elitebook 840 g2 solved by removing/purging iio sensor
package after the first installation (Debian) updated to the testing
version . The problem affected screen and touchpad/mouse. It seems to me
that it is a unnecessary package for laptop with no position sensors is
it not?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1026159] Re: Samsung scx4100 no more recognised as scanner

2016-09-03 Thread Antonello Lobianco
Got it working :-)

>From the repository http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/index.html use the
drivers suld-driver-4.00.39 :

sudo bash -c 'echo "deb http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/ debian extra" >>
/etc/apt/sources.list'
http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/pool/debian/extra/su/suldr-keyring_1_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i suldr-keyring_1_all.deb
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install suld-driver-4.00.39

Add your user to the ld users as asked by the package installation
(maybe this is the reason the official Samsung drivers don't work ???)
and log-out/ log-in.

Samsung scx4100 no more recognised as scanner

Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Samsung scx4100 is a relativelly old but very successful scanner/ laser
printer made by Samsung and it's the first of a serie of devices almost
identical, where Samsung seems to just change their design and name every year
(scx4200, scx4300... scx4600).
This kind of devices were initially available to Linux users trough
installation of Samsung own drivers, however recent ubuntu releases got able to
plug-and-play them, both for printing and scanning (e.g. with simple-scan).
While scx4200 or scx4300 still works in this way, on my Ubuntu 12.04 the
Samsung scx4100 is no longer available as scanner (but it still plug-and-play
as printer).
As scx4100 for best of my knowledge is tecnically pretty the same as the
other cited printers/scanners of the serie, I guess it just miss entry in some
sort of "supported devices" list.

I am available for further informations if needed.

  Kind regards and thank you.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1026159] Re: Samsung scx4100 no more recognised as scanner

2016-09-03 Thread Antonello Lobianco
Situation with Ubuntu 16.04 (64 bits):

- workaround in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1026159/comments/2
is no longer needed, as both /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf and
/lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules have now the required lines;
- workaround in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1026159/comments/9
(edit /etc/sane.d/example.co) seems to have no effects
- printer works, but scanner doesn't work, and Ubuntu complains with an
"Additional software needed" message, and then suggesting that drivers should
be downloaded from the Samsung website.
- after installing the "Samsung Printer Linux/UNIX Driver package", Simple Scan
can "find" the scanner, but complains with a "Failed to scan. Unable to connect
to scanner" error.

So, no scanner available for now in Ubuntu 16.04 :-)

Bdw, which is the last version of Ubuntu that the scanner is proven to
work (I was using 14.04 before)?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1077395] Re: LibreOffice writer refuses to show any dialog

2013-05-13 Thread Antonello Lobianco
Exactly the same problem here, on ubuntu 12.10 (x64 platform),
libreoffice Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2))

I know this is related somehow with libgtk, but there are too many bug
reports relating to it and I am little lost. Is there a current
workaround for it?

I think the importance of this bug should be changed to major because,
at least for those who are involved, this seriously limits the usability
of the software, unless the root of this bug could be tracked down to an
existing bug report hence this bug repord should be marked as
duplicated.
