[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1782599] Re: Search field in "Open file" dialog loses focus after every character typed
No, and neither is the behavior equivalent. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1782599 Title: Search field in "Open file" dialog loses focus after every character typed Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When we click in the magnifier icon next to the "Open" button in a (system provided) "Open File" dialog to search for some file by name, after each character typed, if there are any search results, the search field loses focus to the list view of the results. The correct behavior would be to maintain focus until we stopped typing or even manually changed focus. I've added a screencast of the problem as an attachment. PS: I have no idea if this dialog is provided by nautilus, so I'm not marking it here. Also, I tried using xprop to get the correct package, but it only reports the application using it, not the one providing. --- $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Release: 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1782599/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 996589] [NEW] lightdm doesn't provide visual feedback for accepted password
Public bug reported: Since I installed ubuntu precise I noticed that when you enter a valid password for your user account, lightdm simply freezes until the desktop session is fully loaded. This, at first, made me think that my computer crashed while loading the session... This behaviour is very similar to that when the password is incorrect, but the wrong password message takes less time to appear than the desktop. If I'm not confusing things, I'm pretty sure that in early versions the dots that override password characters disappeared when you typed in the correct password, and stayed there when the password was wrong. This was a simple but effective visual feedback... Now, we (or at least I) keep asking ourselves whether we entered the correct password or not until something tells us which one happened, after several seconds.
