No, and neither is the behavior equivalent.

Title:
Search field in "Open file" dialog loses focus after every character
  typed

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When we click in the magnifier icon next to the "Open" button in a
(system provided) "Open File" dialog to search for some file by name,
after each character typed, if there are any search results, the
search field loses focus to the list view of the results.

The correct behavior would be to maintain focus until we stopped
typing or even manually changed focus.

I've added a screencast of the problem as an attachment.

PS: I have no idea if this dialog is provided by nautilus, so I'm not marking
it here. Also, I tried using xprop to get the correct package, but it only
reports the application using it, not the one providing.

Bug description:
An error message entitled 'Backup Failed' with the text 'An operation

backup drive and Deja Dup attempts to perform a scheduled backup,
although it succeeds on subsequent attempts (either scheduled or
  manual).

The fstab entry for the drive is as follows:
  /dev/disk/by-uuid/1a1374a1-4bb9-4416-b21c-9350e57b70f1
/media/thomas/Tom\040WD\040HD auto
nosuid,nodev,nofail,noauto,compress=lzo,space_cache,uhelper=udisk 0 0

I presume this is either due to both Gnome and Deja Dup attempting to
mount the drive, or Deja Dup not waiting until the drive has been
  successfully mounted.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 996589] [NEW] lightdm doesn't provide visual feedback for accepted password

2012-05-08 Thread Arthur Rodrigues
Public bug reported:

Since I installed ubuntu precise I noticed that when you enter a valid password
for your user account, lightdm simply freezes until the desktop session is
fully loaded.
This, at first, made me think that my computer crashed while loading the
session...

This behaviour is very similar to that when the password is incorrect,
but the wrong password message takes less time to appear than the
desktop.

If I'm not confusing things, I'm pretty sure that in early versions the
dots that override password characters disappeared when you typed in the
correct password, and stayed there when the password was wrong. This was
a simple but effective visual feedback...

Now, we (or at least I) keep asking ourselves whether we entered the
correct password or not until something tells us which one happened,
after several seconds.

The fact that the architectures in these bugs are different still makes the

Sorry, but I dont have any idea on how this works, so I'm just pointing out
this fact so you may verify yourselves =)
