After upgrading from 17.04 I had this issue. Neither could I connect to
an external audio device via Bluetooth.
I started pulseaudio in verbose mode (-vvv) and found that the module
"module-switch-on-connect" is already loaded when it is tried to load
again. I commented out the following lines in
Public bug reported:
on a freshly installed trusty (kubuntu) asus x550lb notebook, nvidia
geforce gt 740m, with an elantech touchpad, when moving the pointer
with touchpad, the screen suddenly freezes. additionally, when the
problem occurs, the following message is logged to the syslog:
