Thanks for the reply!
I tried your steps:
- When using wayland, the flashing also doesn't occur on the desktop
- Kernel 5.4.0-52 doesn't boot at all
- Kernel 5.8.4 does boot, but the flashing is still there
Editing the gdm3 config file however, did fix the flashing on the log in
screen. On both

I see frequent disconnects due to reason=4, which would be o.k. if
reconnects worked fine. However often on reconnects 4-way handshake
times out and I'm prompted to re-enter our wifi pass-phrase, sometimes
as frequent as every few minutes - a major annoyance :-(
Problem
I'm also un-installing Chromium and installing Chrome.
I fully understand the reasons for disabling it by default but not
having an option to enable it really sucks, on my older machine I gladly
accept slightly less stability in exchange for usable performance.

I've also encountered this bug, first thinking it was a bug with the KDE
battery indicator applet. Upower is giving incorrect energy-full values
when this is happening. I've attached my 'upower -d' output from when
this is happening, you can see that the energy-full values are way to
high.

Please see attached above my apport-collect -p xorg 1278223.
I can confirm the same problem as mentioned by the other users,
flickering of the cursor when it's not on the screen connected to the
USB display link adapter. I would be willing to do further debugging.

Confirmed.
Does AMD plan to release quarterly updates for the FGLRX driver (as it
does with Windows) or is this the end of the line for the (still quite
decent) HD4xxx series on Linux?
