[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1716300] Re: Home, Pg Up down keys and arrow keys not funtioning in LibreOffice
I find that the disputed keys again stopped functioning. xev command also does not identify the key-press event. All in a matter of a few minutes. It leaves me in the wilderness. I will check the keyboard hardware and get back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716300 Title: Home, Pg Up down keys and arrow keys not funtioning in LibreOffice Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: File Bug is attached because the description is long. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1716300] Re: Home, Pg Up down keys and arrow keys not funtioning in LibreOffice
I did some more research and found the following which might help the developers to look for the bug. Previously xev command at the terminal did not give response to Delete, Home, PgUp, PgDn,End, Left Arrow or Right Arrow keys. All the other keys functioned as normally they should. I did mapping of the problematic keys (barring PgUp and PgDn) to Function Keys F06, F08, F09, F11 and F12 and managed it for my purposes successfully. I had to perform a hardware check of the keyboard to be sure it was not a case of defective keyboard (and the bug exists in Ubuntu 16.04.3). The hardware man is expected to come tomorrow. Meanwhile I did some major changes in Language Support from English US to English United Kingdom and lo and behold the keys began to respond. I have yet to confirm Left and Right Arrow keys though. SO IT SHOWS THAT IT IS NOT A HARDWARE ISSUE. The xev command also identified the keys. This, I hope, helps the developers. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1587853] Re: Canon Lide 110 scanner does not work with xsane, simple scan, gscan2pdf but works with vuescan
I suggest get rid off xsane, simple-scan and gscan2pdf using sudo apt purge xsane etc. Scanimage does a good job. Use sane-find-scanner to find the scanner. Use scanimage -L to find what make the scanner is. Use scanimage -A to find which parameters go with the scanner you have. Use SANE_DEBUG_DLL=5 scanimage -L to do a bit of debugging, if needed. Somehow simple-scan works on some other machines with Ubuntu 16.04. ** Attachment added: "This attachment gives the output for the commands given above." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1587853/+attachment/4688227/+files/scanner.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to sane-backends in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1587853 Title: Canon Lide 110 scanner does not work with xsane, simple scan, gscan2pdf but works with vuescan Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have a Canon Lide 110 scanner which is detected in scanimage -L and sane-find-scanner. It gets stuck at the finishing end and does not return to the starting end with xsane, simple scan and gscan2pdf. However it works admirably well with vuescan. Even though the light is stuck at the finishing end, on starting vuescan the light returns to the starting end and the scanning is smooth with vuescan. The problem continues with xsane, simple scan and gscan2pdf, however. It seems to me to be a sane backend problem. I had stated this problem before and thought that the problem was solved. But it has not been solved.
