[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1952107] Re: Google Contacts API Deprecated
Brian, Sebastien, do either of you have the ability to mark this as a bug in Bionic as well for tracking purposes? (I don't seem to have permission to do that). It would be excellent for your patches to be backported to Bionic, regardless of _who_ submits such a patch. Thank you very much in advance! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1952107 Title: Google Contacts API Deprecated Status in evolution-data-server: Fix Released Status in evolution package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in evolution-data-server package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in evolution source package in Focal: Triaged Status in evolution-data-server source package in Focal: Triaged Status in evolution source package in Impish: Fix Released Status in evolution-data-server source package in Impish: Fix Released Bug description: * Impact The google contacts integration with the GNOME component will stop working since it relies on an API which is going to be shutdown * Testcase - use evolution - add a google account - go the contacts section The contacts stored on the google account should be listed, no error should be displayed * Regression potential The patch changes the google contact backend so any potential issue is likely to be with contacts integration. I opened Evolution today and a red banner appeared on top with the following message: > Failed to connect address book “ : Contacts” > Invalid request URI or header, or unsupported nonstandard parameter: Contacts API is being deprecated. Migrate to People API to retain programmatic access to Google Contacts. See https://developers.google.com/people/contacts-api-migration. I found the upstream bug report for this[0], which references the commit[1] that fixes it. However, that commit is in release 3.42.0, whereas Ubuntu 21.10 currently has 3.40.4-1. Is it possible to backport this commit so that Evolution will continue to work properly? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1754671] Re: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression
I can also confirm that the network-manager package version 1.10.14-0ubuntu1 from bionic-proposed fixes the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754671 Title: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression Status in NetworkManager: Fix Released Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in network-manager source package in Bionic: Fix Committed Bug description: * Impact When using a VPN the DNS requests might still be sent to a DNS server outside the VPN when they should not * Test case Configure the system to send all the traffic to a VPN, do a name resolution, the request should not go to the public DNS server (to be checked by capturing the traffic by example with wireshark) * Regression potential The code change the handling of DNS servers when using a VPN, we should check that name resolution still work whne using a VPN in different configurations - In 16.04 the NetworkManager package used to carry this patch: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~network-manager/network-manager/ubuntu/view/head:/debian/patches/Filter-DNS-servers-to-add-to-dnsmasq-based-on-availa.patch It fixed the DNS setup so that when I'm on the VPN, I am not sending unencrypted DNS queries to the (potentially hostile) local nameservers. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 841343] Re: Banshee hangs on startup
I don't have a 13.04 host to test on either - all of my hosts are on the latest LTS release (12.04). However, I can confirm that launching Banshee right now on my 12.04 host works ok. The program doesn't seem to hang at all upon startup. I don't get any kind of warnings or errors onscreen or in the debug log. However, the Banshee Music Player window does appear, but it is empty - nothing ever appears in it. I tried two other things to get banshee to start up successfully, and neither of them had any positive effect on this issue: 1) Completely removed my ~/.config/banshee-1 directory 2) purged my banshee install and reinstalled I'm quite puzzled by this behavior. Here is the output from starting banshee from the command line with the --debug flag set: ** Running Mono with --debug ** [1 Info 16:38:26.934] Running Banshee 2.0.0: [Ubuntu 11.04 (linux-gnu, i686) @ 2011-06-28 05:46:57 UTC] [1 Debug 16:38:27.164] Initializing GTK [1 Debug 16:38:29.258] Post-Initializing GTK [1 Debug 16:38:29.336] Configuration client extension loaded (Banshee.GnomeBackend.GConfConfigurationClient) [1 Debug 16:38:29.349] Using default gconf-base-key [1 Debug 16:38:29.710] Bus.Session.RequestName ('org.bansheeproject.Banshee') replied with PrimaryOwner [1 Debug 16:38:29.829] Core service started (DBusServiceManager, 0.001406) [1 Debug 16:38:29.832] Registering remote object /org/bansheeproject/Banshee/DBusCommandService (Banshee.ServiceStack.DBusCommandService) on org.bansheeproject.Banshee [1 Debug 16:38:29.843] Core service started (DBusCommandService, 0.01344) [1 Debug 16:38:45.669] Opened SQLite (version 3.7.4) connection to /home/traack/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db [1 Debug 16:38:45.670] Core service started (DbConnection, 15.82682) [1 Debug 16:38:45.680] Database version 43 is up to date [1 Debug 16:38:45.796] Core service started (PreferenceService, 0.010884) [1 Debug 16:38:45.803] Core service started (Network, 0.007205) [1 Debug 16:38:45.804] Registering remote object /org/bansheeproject/Banshee/SourceManager (Banshee.Sources.SourceManager) on org.bansheeproject.Banshee [1 Debug 16:38:45.804] Core service started (SourceManager, 0.000983) [1 Debug 16:38:45.815] Core service started (MediaProfileManager, 0.000345) [1 Debug 16:38:45.819] Registering remote object /org/bansheeproject/Banshee/PlayerEngine (Banshee.MediaEngine.PlayerEngineService) on org.bansheeproject.Banshee [1 Debug 16:38:45.821] Core service started (PlayerEngine, 0.005467) [1 Debug 16:38:46.078] Registering remote object /org/bansheeproject/Banshee/PlaybackController (Banshee.PlaybackController.PlaybackControllerService) on org.bansheeproject.Banshee [1 Debug 16:38:46.079] Core service started (PlaybackController, 0.003936) [1 Debug 16:38:46.088] Starting - Startup Job [1 Debug 16:38:46.089] Core service started (JobScheduler, 0.009955) [1 Debug 16:38:46.107] IO provider extension loaded (Banshee.IO.Gio.Provider) [1 Debug 16:38:46.266] Loaded HardwareManager backend: Banshee.Hardware.Gio [1 Debug 16:38:46.268] Core service started (HardwareManager, 0.178711) [1 Debug 16:38:46.270] Bus.Session.RequestName ('org.bansheeproject.CollectionIndexer') replied with PrimaryOwner [1 Debug 16:38:46.272] Registering remote object /org/bansheeproject/Banshee/CollectionIndexerService (Banshee.Collection.Indexer.CollectionIndexerService) on org.bansheeproject.CollectionIndexer [1 Debug 16:38:46.274] Core service started (CollectionIndexerService, 0.00536) [1 Debug 16:38:46.276] Core service started (SaveTrackMetadataService, 0.001852) [1 Debug 16:38:46.301] Adding icon theme search path: /usr/share/banshee/icons [1 Debug 16:38:46.302] Core service started (GtkElementsService, 0.02647) [1 Debug 16:38:46.304] Core service started (InterfaceActionService, 0.001751) [1 Debug 16:38:46.431] Extension actions loaded: MetadataFixActions [1 Debug 16:38:46.432] Registering remote object /org/bansheeproject/Banshee/GlobalUIActions (Banshee.Gui.GlobalActions) on org.bansheeproject.Banshee [1 Debug 16:38:46.433] Album artwork path set to /home/traack/.cache/media-art [1 Debug 16:38:46.569] Core service started (ArtworkManager, 0.137053) [1 Debug 16:38:46.569] Core service started (BookmarksService, 0.00025) [1 Debug 16:38:48.003] Adding context page lastfm-recommendations [1 Debug 16:38:48.056] Adding context page wikipedia [1 Debug 16:38:50.715] Constructed Nereid
