I was able to solve that bug for rar-files by downloading a new version of
WinRAR, see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/632737
but that makes me think that maybe the problem isn't directly in file-
roller.

It affects me too.
If i try to start gparted with the commands pkexec gparted or
gparted-pkexec, it doesn't work.
But if i type gtk-launch gparted it works perfectly!

The bug occurs when I input this in into the shell:
evince
http://www.intel.com/content/dam/doc/product-brief/h67-express-chipset-2nd-gen-core-brief.pdf;
The file is very small, it is downloaded nearly immediately, when evince is
open and I see the file, it is already downloaded completely.
But
I tried to upload the 2 screenshots but accidently posted the comment
while it wasn't finished. Here are the screenshots with description:
