By default, kubuntu uses the OpenGL for the rendering backend (2.0 or
3.1) when it was in these modes, it'd show forms of screen corruption
for example a loading bar might flicker between a longer and a shorter bar
or a combo box would seemingly not respond, and then
supervised reinstallation of Windows, but all to no avail. It just
kept crashing.
Now I am back up and running with Ubuntu. Everything works and it is
stable

fyi I've updated the hybrid wiki page to add (ie clone) a section in the intro
explaining it's referring to the dual either-or GPU situation in laptops not
the dual cooperative-GPUs multihead desktop situation.
For my multi-head troubles I think from here I just have to experiment with
Xinerama
I've now updated the wiki to explain that HybridGraphics is only for the
either-or laptop GPUs.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion at this point that gvfs is
fundamentally broken for use on a UNIX system, and the authors have no
intention of fixing it by observing the tradition of everything is a
file. Too bad, but the solution for us has been to migrate our systems
to something else
I no longer have the hardware this bug related to, so please close it.

Another confirmation on 12.10, using Unity. I did not experience this
bug using 12.04.
Interestingly this seems to reset shortcuts where there is a default,
but not new ones. In my case, I replace Shift to workspace right with
Ctrl-Alt-h, rather than Ctrl-Alt-right arrow. (And the rest of the vim

I upgraded to Oneiric and the problem has now gone.
(Note that for me it never worked correctly, even with the display
props dialogue open.)
Took me a while to get back to a Gnome 2-alike desktop, but now I'm
