i cant get the calculator to work since then.
no entry in gconf-settings, any idea where gcalctool stores it's config ?

rm /home/thom/.cache/gcalctool/eurofxref-daily.xml
that did work.
Now I can't reproduce the error anymore...seems like it was more a glitch than
a bug.
Mystery unsolved but case closed for now, i think.
