The install button greys out and there is nothing else I can do.

Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1573338] Re: can't install google chrome browser on ubuntu gnome 16.04

2016-04-22 Thread Hong Zhu
Here might be the reason even through I'm not sure. My PC has been upgraded
with new motherboard two years ago to replace the motherboard before 2010 which
doesn't have UEFI. But the only system on HD was Ubuntu 14.04.When I try to
boot my PC on Thursday with Ubuntu 16.04, I can't boot it. I finally found out
that the BIOS doesn't set to boot in UEFI CD mode. After put UEFI CD boot mode
on the top option, I can boot Ubuntu 16.04 from CD.
Now here is the question:1. I don't want to wipe out all HD. I still like to
install new system in prepartition / with 20GB, still like to keep my /home
directory. I've been installed like this for several times. If my bios is boot
from UEFI mode, i need to do some extra works to set UEFI partition. Should I
do it?2. If I turn off UEFI secure boot, can I boot my CD from legacy bios
mode?
Thanks,Hong

Subject: [Bug 1573338] Re: can't install google chrome browser on ubuntu gnome
16.04

Did a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 and tried to install the usual apps, i.a.
Chrome. Installation via Software failed without any message.
However, dpkg -i complained about libindicator1 being missing. apt-get revealed
that libindicator1 is not in the repos, only libindicator3 and libindicator7.

This is a severe regression, since Chrome is currently the only way of
using (paid-for!) services like Netflix.

Is there a way around this? Who is responsible for a solution? Canonical
or Google?

btw, Chrome works fine on another of my machines running 16.04 RC.
