[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1681735] Re: Auto Update

2017-05-01 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Hm... It should offer you an update automatically if you are not running
the latest version. I must admit I'm not quite sure what's going on
here.

If you open a terminal (ctrl+alt+t), could you run the following command:
apt policy firefox
and paste the output here?
It should tell us which version is currently installed and which is the latest
available in the archives.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1681735] Re: Auto Update

2017-04-23 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Could you check "Software updates" (see attached image), it will likely
have some available updates?

Applications in Ubuntu are available through Ubuntu Software
(https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/ubuntu-help/addremove-install.html), which
is the "app store". Most things can be found there and installed there
without looking up and downloading from external places. These apps
(including Firefox) will also receive updates and security fixes through
"Software updates" alongside any other apps or libriaries you may have
installed, so everything should be possible to update in a single place.

Could you check if there are any available updates in "Software
updates"?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1681735] Re: Auto Update

2017-04-16 Thread David Garside
Yes, Firefox is set to update automatically but doesn’t. Yes I am
running UBUNTU 16.04 LTS but no updates have been notified.Thank you for
mentioning Dash, as a new Ubuntu user and computer novice I had not
heard of it!! However I couldn't find a mention of Software Updates. I
have downloaded Firefox 51.0.1 to my download Library but don't know
what to do next. Thanks for your patience.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1681735] Re: Auto Update

2017-04-13 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting.

I must admit I'm not sure what you mean by "auto is set", is this some
Firefox setting?

However, new versions of Firefox should be available along with any
other updates to installed packages in Ubuntu. Could you please check
in update-manager (or look for "Software updates" in dash) whether a new
Firefox version is available there.

Based on the report information you seem to be running Ubuntu 16.04, so
it should offer you Firefox 52
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox)

** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete
