Sebastian Bacher, copying between any two programs currently doesn't work unless both programs stay open. i.e., if I open a text editor and copy the contents, then close the text editor and go to another program (or the same text editor), the copied data will be gone. that's why you need a

I can add this, this is a completely fresh install as of just three or four days ago via the 17.10 iso. there should be then no trace of Unity, of I am not mistaken. So i think I can attest to this being a gnome issue via wayland. again, simply installing parcellite suffices, as long as you don't
