Thanks for the info, it's a bit puzzling still. I guess the behaviour was not only after adding but continuing after a session restart using the indicator/keybindings and not the settings? (in which case it's probably more a bug on the shell/server side). Also it would be good to report it

So I tried something I hadn't tried before, and it worked I installed "Spanish" as input source, and deleted all the others, including English (which I never tried deleting before). With only this layout available, I checked, and it works just as I expect it to. After that, I added "English
