[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1995134] Re: WiFi captive portals stopped working after Kinetic upgrade

2022-12-12 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I installed gnome-shell 43.1-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 22.10. After logging in
and logging out, I verified that the login page popup correctly showed
and worked when I connected to a captive portal. The popup correctly did
not show when I connected to a Wifi point that didn't require logging
in.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1995134] Re: WiFi captive portals stopped working after Kinetic upgrade

2022-11-30 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Mark, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-shell into kinetic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
shell/43.1-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
kinetic to verification-done-kinetic. If it does not fix the bug for
you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed-kinetic. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Title:
WiFi captive portals stopped working after Kinetic upgrade

Status in GNOME Shell:
  New
Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After an upgrade from Ubuntu 22.04 to 20.10 NetworkManager no longer
  recognizes captive portals.

Attempting to run /usr/libexec/gnome-shell-portal-helper produces this
  output:

  (process:166068): Gjs-CRITICAL **: 19:25:08.053: JS ERROR: ImportError: No JS
module 'fileUtils' found in search path
  @resource:///org/gnome/shell/portalHelper/main.js:13:30
  @:1:14

This may be normal because of the environment, but it is the best I have to
go on now.
