Title:
Feature Request: Allow Firefox to work on multiple X11 screens
The profile folder have the cache of the pages.
My doubt is only the conflict with the cache, for the databases double
connections can create some problems?

Daniele,
Databases are what I'm most worried about since ff probably thinks it
has an exclusive lock on them. For simple browsing everything seems to
be working as expected.
And I'm not familiar with the profile being cached, can you elaborate?

Ah, I see.
For anything transient like that you can just remove the symlink from
the fake profiles and ff should recreate them, much like I already do
for .parentlock.
The databases shouldn't be a problem in theory, as long as you don't
trigger any write collisions. But in practice, a collision
Yeah this could easily be rolled into a script that
1) backs up the real profile
2) makes the fake profile
3) adds it to profile.ini
4) starts a new ff instance using the new fake profile
Its still not a real solution though, and its currently beyond my
personal needs.

Interesting solution but it's works without problem with the database
and the cache of the profile?

Feature Request: Allow Firefox to
I have a pretty hacky workaround for this. It seems to be working fine
initially, but I'm guessing this will break something eventually. BACK
UP YOUR PROFILE BEFORE TRYING THIS
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox
mkdir screen1
mkdir screen2
# for bash
shopt -s dotglob
# for zsh
setopt GLOB_DOTS
cd screen1
Oops, forgot to mention you have to add the fake profiles to your
profile.ini as well like so:
[Profile1]
Name=screen1
IsRelative=1
Path=screen1
Default=0
[Profile2]
Name=screen2
IsRelative=1
Path=screen2
Default=0

I would still like it to be fixed but sadly I have learnt to live
without it using different profiles. It's a shame actually.

The funny thing it that it's apparently easy to do... applications like
GIMP just happily open windows on different X screens...

This is a feature request bug.
The ability to use Firefox on a multi-screen configuration would be
useful. However, it is not possible at this time (at least with a
single profile). This is also the case for multiple X
