[Desktop-packages] [Bug 878339] Re: Copy disk - disk to copy disappears when 'copy' button clicked

2013-08-25 Thread khink
The workaround doesn't work for me (on 13.04). Loading the CD to be
copied while the Copy dialog is open makes the drive name (in my case,
Audio CD in Matshita DVD-RAM UJ8B2) appear when you hover over the
empty space with the mouse, but clicking Copy just freezes up Brasero.

To be clear, the machine has no problem reading discs. Asunder, for
example, correctly gets the audio cd data from cddb.

This is on a Lenovo Thinkpad S430, see attached lshw output.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 878339] Re: Copy disk - disk to copy disappears when 'copy' button clicked

2013-08-25 Thread khink
Not sure if this is related:

Doing a simple dd didn't work for me either. I tried this to just create an
.iso from the CD (/dev/cdrom, /dev/cdrw etc. are all symlinks to /dev sr0.):
$ dd if=/dev/sr0 of=/tmp/audiocd.iso
dd: reading ‘/dev/sr0’: Input/output error
0+0 records in
0+0 records out
0 bytes (0 B) copied, 0.0026843 s, 0.0 kB/s

isoinfo (described on
http://www.troubleshooters.com/linux/coasterless.htm#_Accurately_Reading_a_CD)
also didn't work:
$ sudo isoinfo -d -i /dev/cdrom
isoinfo: No such file or directory. Cannot open ' /dev/cdrom'. Cannot open SCSI
driver.
isoinfo: No such file or directory. Unable to open  /dev/cdrom

As a workaround, i'm now ripping the CD with Asunder (as .wav) and will
then use Brasero to create a new audio CD.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 878339] Re: Copy disk - disk to copy disappears when 'copy' button clicked

2012-09-16 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I am able to reproduce this on Ubuntu 12.04 / brasero 3.4.1-0ubuntu1.

I discovered an odd workaround though; if you open the copy dialog
before inserting the disc, it will be automatically selected and you can
copy it without problems. Why this would work differently than if the
disc is inserted before opening the dialog, I don't know.

2011-12-14 Thread Barry Drake
This bug still appears for me. It is entirely reproducible. If I open
an iso file using Brasero with a blank disk already in the burner, I can
open the iso, but the blank disk is not available to write (greyed out).
If I wait till I've opened the iso and then insert a blank disk, I can
then write the iso to the disk. The problem is consistent in Oneiric
and now in Precise. I can try to get more information if you tell me
what to do.
