When I start firefox from cold it loads my tabs and all seems fine for a
bit, then shortly after the window goes dark, it's unusable. I run iotop
and discover firefox is reading about 1.2MB/s for about 5 minutes. I
have to wait until this has finished, and can then continue

If unity doesn't respond to the mouse while it's overdrawing the lock
screen, then its input windows are probably still stacked correctly
(below the lock screen). In that case, this is an overdraw bug and not a
stacking bug.
Thus stacking fixes in compiz won't help, but my work in progress to
Jan, thank you for the tests. Firefox has sent the
PageSize=Custom.Custom in both job 445 and 446, the difference is
that the filter chain for the HP driver breaks on it but the filter
chain for cups-pdf not. Evince does not send the broken PageSize
attribute and therefore prints correctly.
Important note to the GIMP, Firefox, and GTK maintainers: Jan's Firefox
jobs have sent the PageSize=Custom.Custom even with a standard
page size (A4) selected.

using FreeNX. I did find that if I hook a keyboard and a mouse up and
log in locally, I can access the usb thumb drive normally. However, over
FreeNX it says something like Access Denied - Unauthorized. I can also

When I do:
# add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice
I get:
Cannot access PPA
(https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~libreoffice/+archive/libreoffice) to get PPA
information,
please check your internet connection.
So then I try:
# ping -c3 https://launchpad.net
I get:
ping:
Disconnected external monitor. Widescreen laptop monitor came up with
1366x768 the max res. Any attempt to change that with Systems Settings
Displays including just 1360x768 causes same crash as soon as apply is
selected. The touchpad is turned on. For that matter, don't have to
change
