intel GPU but still powerdrain is enormous so obvioulsy the nvidia card is

Hi Kirk,
I found a solution. The issue seems to be an outdated version of caldav used
for Synology's webdav server. Here is what I did
- Expert calendar and tasks list (separately) to ics files
- Deactivate caldav in the webdav server
- Installed the new calendar application in my Diskstation
I have tried doing it, the problem have gone, it works fine. Newer
Chromium (66.0.3359.139) from the Ubuntu repos also works perfectly. I
suppose you can close the bug-report.

I have been able to solve this.
The problem was the .profile file in the home directory of the userid.
the PATH variable had a reference to a symlink in /opt. The content
under the symlinked directory had 777 permissions. After changing that
to something less permissive, the problem went away.
Assuming Fix Released, please change back to New if you can reproduce
this issue on Ubuntu 18.04 or Cosmic.

I'm guessing this is unrelated to
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/296 since that applies
every time you open a folder with a lot of thumbnails, so I'm going to
assume this is fixed, please change back to New if you can reproduce
this bug on Ubuntu 18.04 or Cosmic.
