[Desktop-packages] [Bug 794900] Re: libreoffice slow on screen scroll and retries the scroll several times
[Expired for libreoffice (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/794900 Title: libreoffice slow on screen scroll and retries the scroll several times Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Binary package hint: libreoffice When I have word document opened in libreoffice for more than a day, after that time the scrolling of the scroll bar takes a minute to finish. Redrawing the screen seems to fail, in the sense that subsequent sentences are overlapping (showing only half of one of them) I cannot produce a screenshot, because the process consumes more than 50% cpu. To describe what happens, imagine a scroll of half a page or so: it start the scroll, hampers on redrawing the bottom lines (when scrolling down), then finishes after about 10 seconds with >50% cpu activity. When it reaches its 'destination', it restarts from the beginning (top) and show the same behaviour several times. I have this problem with a word .doc file and adding comments to text, but I do not know if this is related. I have switched off the 'java' option in the preferences (having read about that solving the problem somewhere), but that doesn't help. closing and reopening the document resolves the problem: fast response to scrolling the mouse. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 794900] Re: libreoffice slow on screen scroll and retries the scroll several times
This happens on my system as well with any document. I frequently leave my laptop suspended with whatever I was working on open. The next day I always have to close all of my documents and reopen them to make Writer usable again. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 794900] Re: libreoffice slow on screen scroll and retries the scroll several times
Something else that I just noticed; I had two documents open over the past night, I created both about the same time around 11pm according to the file's modified timestamp. One had about 3 pages of text, the other had three words. Today at 1:22, the first and larger document exhibited the usual choppy scrolling behavior and the other did not. I closed the first document before I came across this observation. I'll try to keep notes here on what I'm noticing, perhaps there will be some nugget of useful information.
