an API to control the slideshow behaviour is currently in development.
I can't tell you when it will be available, but don't expect anything
for the OOo 2.3 release. Should be available in developer builds some
time after the 2.3 release.

SCRIPT 'path_to_file' will create a dump of the database, which can be
used to re-create the complete DB. See the HSQLDB documentation.

OO.o and the custom java applications connect to them as needed.
