Donald, thanks for doing all these!
Are you thinking of releasing this separately from the Geronimo Eclipse
plugin? Might be good to release together when Eclipse plugin releases
its next maintenance release (if it comes out soon) and also allow users
to download j2g using Eclipse update
Erik, could you create a page in the wiki sandbox (http://cwiki.apache.org/GMOxSBOX/index.html) that we could later move into the main web site

I didn't want to tie the J2G releases to the WTP server adaptor releases for
now, but we could in the future if there is more synergy between them and
users start asking for it... For now, placing J2G in the same update site as
the WTP plugins should be enough for most users.

I've also created a J2G component in GERONIMODEVTOOLS for us to use and the
initial release target should be 1.0.0.

I started looking at the J2G documentation on the wiki. Two immediate
questions come up and I hope someone can help answering them:
1) Does this tool support/been tested on Geronimo 2.0 or 2.0.1?
2) Does this tool migrate Jave EE 5 deployment plans?
If someone can point me to the samples
Yep, I'll move it over. Just been busy with other things...

Erik,
Thanks for your answer. I thought it did support 2.0, but wanted to be
sure. I guess we just need to mention that in the wiki (at the end it
said the application should be able to be deployed in a running instance
of Geronimo 1.1.1 without issue).

Haha, yes, 'interesting' is certainly one way to put it =P
The ones that are in the 2.0 wiki should be quite a bit better though, since
we've (Viet and myself) have been collaborating on getting them cleaned up
and making sure they work on jboss and geronimo alike, as well as having

I have done some amount of testing using the sample migration apps, although
it was with the versions that are present in the Geronimo 1.1 wiki pages,
not the Geronimo 2.0 wiki pages.
J2G was successful on these 1.1 applications as well, however the migration

The reason I'm asking is because with Prasad and Viet we've been trying to
figure out a way to consolidate all the sample applications as well as

would any of these samples work for further testing?

Yes!
I am all for this, especially so we can progress it onto the Development
Tools section of the Geronimo site to make it more noticeable and easily
accessible to people interested in migrating applications, as right now the
only way to download it or even be aware of it is by digging through

I'd say it merely requires lazy consensus where you declare your
intent (already done) and after a couple of days (say 72 hours) commit
Sounds good. I'll give everyone a few days to discuss it and then call a
Vote. Thanks.

The tool seems to already be getting some attention from users in the
community. I think, moving it out of sandbox and into devtools might
increase the interest in it. That seems like a good thing to me.
