Hi all,
The ASF Board of Directors have just voted to establish the Apache NetBeans
project as a top level project. Congrats to us all, for the hard work and
dedication (and it only took 2 1/2 years)!
This is a public (binding) decision, so by means of this e-mail we are

INFRA-17245, please add comments there, if we can indeed do it another

Yes, none of this is news at all. We tried rerouting, didn’t work as
expected, side effects, so it’s being rolled back now, may take a day or so
and it will be OK again.
Then, now that we know of several problematic areas such as this one, we
can investigate each case and see how to solve it.

We have this issue:

The intention has been throughout the Apache NetBeans process to redirect
from netbeans.org to netbeans.apache.org. Now that we're working on
graduating, maybe the time for actually doing this has come?

Definitely no discussion needed on this point -- we cannot host the plugins
at Apache. We can, however, host the Plugin Portal itself, via the Apache
NetBeans VM, though we'll need to have it so that plugins cannot be
uploaded, instead, the plugin author will add a new page for their plugin

I have been thinking differently about this ‘capacity’ item. In summary, I
think it will be easier to release 4 times per year than 2 times per year,
precisely because of the capacity item. Dealing with smaller incremental
fixed date releases will I believe simplify rather than complexify things.

Sure, if we know what Java EE 8 support means. So far, there have been
various separate e-mail discussions and issues, but we really need a
thorough specification describing what NetBeans must provide in order to
provide support for Java EE 8. Can you provide that? Provide it here:
