Building in recent environments: Java 7 and Mozilla
I tried building OpenOffice on the coming Fedora 19 to see how it worked with a fairly recent set of build tools. As for STLport, I used the default choice for 32-bit systems (this uses the STLPort package from the external sources we bundle). We have two problems with the current trunk: - The hsqldb module does not build with Java 7. The patch at https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=121754 fixes it and, since this is the only part that does not build with Java 7, this should be checked and possibly integrated (the issue is set as a possible release blocker). - The moz module does not build. It can really be anything, I didn't check: one problematic line in code, an obsolete language pattern, a compiler bug... I just reconfigured with --disable-mozilla for the purpose of finishing the build. Is this something that should be investigated or are we going to get rid of this module soon? If I recall correctly, it is obsolete, unmaintained, external code. I have made significant updaes to danish and would like to be able to build with that. I merged only the langs above. But created a sdf for you and you can find it under http://people.apache.org/~jsc/translation/new_da.sdf No gsicheck ran on it yet. Thx I will grab it, but I assume that before release you make sure pootle and sdf are synchronized for all languages, so that we potentially can clear pootle. That way we have a marker in svn for all languages, otherwise we will never know what was translated for 4.0 or later. no, that is not my plan because it is always more work and generated sdf files often contains errors that break the build. I integrate only languages that we plan to release. Important is the languages that we release. And for 3.4.1 we did an additional lang only release later and for this release we prepared new updated source release containing the new sdf files as well. And svn allows us to exactly checkout the version we have released. Means we always know what we have released. I think it is quite important to remember that the pootle server is secondary storage, and the only long life storage is svn. Once 4.0 is released I would like to clean the db, optimize it for 4.1 and just keep 4.1 since it will allow a better cache usage. cleanup in the way that we don#t loose anything is fine but I would like to keep the 4.0 related projects for the case we will do a further languages release. We can create a new 4.1 project and can delete the the old 3.4.x project when we have maade a backup of all the sdf files. There are languages that are not yet available in the 4.0 projects. But I agree that we should bring the svn tree in a shape where we have at least sdf files for all languages that match the latest sources. But this is a lot of work to bring them all in good shape. But that is of course something for after the release and volunteers are welcome to help. Juergen rgds jan I. Juergen rgds jan i Tamil and Greek are merged as well. For Tamil I am not sure if there will be a further update regarding the mnemonics. Greek needs some review of the gsicheck warnings/errors. On my list are Japanese, Dutch, Korean, French, Hungarian, Portuguese, German, Galician, Portuguese Brazil, Russian. To help me it would nice if you can tell me if there is a further check/update coming regarding the mnemonics or if Pootle is up-to-date and ready for the merge. Well some of these languages were already merged back and I need only a clarification regarding the mnemonics. Other languages like Asturian that will be potentially completed until tomorrow will be taken into account for the release as well. Building with MSVC++ 10.0 Express Compiler
Hi, regarding the current discussion about building with Java 7 and Mozilla I thought it to be useful to ask if someone could enhance the configure scripts to handle wntmsci13.pro builds (using MSVC 2010 Express compiler infrastructure)? And as long as the current Express compilers don't ship with msm files it might be useful to disable the check for these files and to disable the pack process if configured. Maybe somebody want's to use a different pack process eg. by using a self extracting archive instead. I'm not sure I understand: Is the STLP4_EMUBASE_NS macro already defined in the standard stdc++ headers? Or are the using *::hash etc. already done in the std headers? should NO_STLPORT4_EMULATION be defined or not? The main codebase still needs the stlport4 emulation, so it should not be disabled (i.e. the macro should not be defined). Enabling the macro will help later to find stlport dependent stuff when the main codebase gets converted to use standard C++ template libraries. But you might want to make further fixes, like: - Two links are still broken: http://www.look2oo.org/smf/ and market...@pt.openoffice.org (this used to be a mailing list, but all @something.openoffice.org mailing list have been closed and replaced by the ones listed at http://openoffice.apache.org/mailing-lists.html ) - In the texts, OpenOffice.org is fine when it refers to versions until 3.3.0 (so it's fine to write OpenOffice.org 3.2.1); in other cases, we use OpenOffice (and Apache OpenOffice at least on the homepage, as it is now) - The old distribution program is being replaced. In the meantime, the best resource you can link to is http://www.openoffice.org/distribution/ - It's OK to say that the OpenOffice 4.0 translation to Portuguese is complete, but to avoid confusion I recommend to add that OpenOffice 4.0 will be released soon but is not yet available. Incomplete Answer (from Dr Katherine Phelps)
On this page: http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/FAQ/Writer/GraphicsFramesObjects/How_can_I_rotate_a_graphic_with_a_given_angle You answer by telling the person how to rotate a graphic. You do not tell them how to achieve a specific angle of rotation. If I want to rotate my object exactly ninety degrees, the software does not seem to make it possible to achieve that level of exactitude. I will carefully move the mouse and get 89.95 or 91.20, but never quite ninety on the dot. So, how can I get ninety? Thank you. Re: Contact message (from OpenBob)
yes, tests have been succesful under these platform, althought some issues have been dealt with silent installations. The previous versions were before Windows 8 was released. New versions should include Windows 8 as supported platform. On Tue, Jul 2, 2013 at 9:04 PM, OpenBob bob.r@gmail.com wrote: Does openOffice run on windows 8.0 also? Hello!! One possible solution - you can hold the shift key while rotating to limit the movement to 15 degree increments. Also, you can probably get better support for user questions on the user mailing list or the user forum (http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/) Best regards, Francis On Tue, Jul 2, 2013 at 5:47 PM, Dr Katherine Phelps m...@glasswings.com.auwrote: On this page: http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/FAQ/Writer/GraphicsFramesObjects/How_can_I_rotate_a_graphic_with_a_given_angle You answer by telling the person how to rotate a graphic.
