Done. You will receive a temporary password by mail. Let us know if you
don't receive it within a few minutes. Otherwise, see you on the doc list!

Hi Oliver, Juergen, all

Thank you for the feedback. The build is working perfectly so I'm glad it
was such a simple problem. This seems to be a perfect candidate for 4.1.1 :)

Best regards,
Pedro

I'm a little worried that the Windows Nightly based on the same build

failed
http://ci.apache.org/builders/aoo-win7/builds/99

The logs from #99 are already overriden by logs from #100. The logs from
#100 showed me that there seems to be no space left on the device

Thus, it seems to be an error of build machine.

Mailmerge Question

2014-07-25 Thread kevin

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct mailing list so I apologize if is
not to start with.

I've created a mail merge program that merges data from the IBM i via
ODBC. I assumed that the mail merge service used the printer set in the
mailmerge document..

Is that correct because as of 3.4.1 this no longer works and any
printing using Xjob just prints to the default printer set on my PC.

My program sets the printer every time and when I print the document
manually it prints to the correct printer..

Can anybody offer any advice..

Thanks

Kevin

[PROPOSAL] Enhance Statistics

2014-07-25 Thread Tal Daniel
Hi, is there a way to extend the stats page a bit?

For example, I wish I could see these data:

Component x Version matrix:
Hebrew, Full Installation (4.1.0; Released Dec 2013): 23,000 downloads |
(4.1.1; Aug 2014): 10,000 | ...

Hebrew, Language Pack (4.1.0; Released Dec 2013): 34,000 downloads |
(4.1.1; Aug 2014): 14,000 | ...

and ...
Hebrew, Full Installation timeline (month by month download/installation
counts)
Hebrew, Language Pack timeline (month by month download/installation counts)

This would allow me/us to see whether good translation improves downloads,
and whether people appreciate our work and upgrade AOO, or... abandon AOO.

I believe this could be done using Google Analytics, and then share a link
to viewing the [public] data, instead of updating the stats page.

Very cool! a nice fill in template page. :)

Taking a look at this again. I have two ideas --

something in /download

you mean how to turn the general pages in /xx from English into the
wished language?

* it would be helpful to have a new file called localized_download.html
or something in /download as well that would contain the slightly edited
js references found, for example, in

http://www.openoffice.org/de/downloads/index.html

with placeholders for the language js file.

Hm, can you explain a bit more or give me an example?

The second item would be especially helpful to get translation volunteers
to help in anticipation of new language releases. They could submit the
changed download page, and the translated string js file as issues ahead of
time to be committed when the release comes out.

What do you think?

Some more instruction are always good, thats right.

That page is simply a static version of the full statistics that you can
find here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.1.0/stats/timeline

You can change file and restrict statistics to what you prefer.

Hebrew, Full Installation timeline (month by month download/installation
counts)

Something like this:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.1.0/binaries/he/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.0_Win_x86_install_he.exe/stats/timeline?dates=2014-01-01+to+2014-07-25

but with the API (link at the bottom of that page) you can extract and
aggregate more information. This is what the website scripts do.

  Andrea.

Pushing OO to the limit!

2014-07-25 Thread Rory O'Farrell
There is an interesting posting on handling a very large file in OO at
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7t=71206

This file has several thousand graphics and amounts to 2300 pages.

Inspired by this, I tried building a large plain text file in OO, to see how
big I could go. I got to 39.8 million words and about 117K A5 pages. The page
count seems to stop at 64K and carry on MOD 64K. In terms of response the file
was effectively uneditable (several hours to propagate minimal style changes).
Memory used on a two core 4GB machine was 1450 MB and on a 4 core 6GB machine
was 1670 MB.

All that data is available.

The python scripts that gather the data are in SVN here:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/aoo-stats/

The one I use to gather the daily download stats is this one:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/aoo-stats/detail-by-day.py

You also need the all.lst data file which is in the same directory:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/aoo-stats/all.lst

You invoke like this, specifying the date range of interest:

python detail-by-day.py all.lst 2014-07-01 2014-07-25 out.csv

It outputs a csv file that you should redirect.

If you know python that is a good start. Otherwise the SourceForge
API is a REST service, and you can query it with any language.

You can also grab the details from our 100 million milestone here:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/devtools/aoo-stats/100m.csv

But that is before the Hebrew translation.

One idea to simplify this: I can volunteer to upload an updated CSV
file of the details whenever I update the stats file. If you can
write some case that generates an HTML page, or even just a table
from that CSV file, we can easily copy in the new totals.

That is how this page is produced:
http://www.openoffice.org/stats/countries.html I have a script
that generates that entire page from the SourceForge data.

no .exe

2014-07-25 Thread Chris Landrum
Hello OO folks,

I have been having problems with opening a new document to write in lately. It
would open one, but the font size was established and HUGE. I could not find a
fix for it.

So this morning, I downloaded the upgrade. That didn’t work either.

I deleted the whole OO program, rebooted, re-downloaded, rebooted, installed.
Now I have no .exe or other recognizable extension to get this party started.

If you can help PLEASE do. I need to make a flyer for business.

Thanks.

 (e.g., OS X 32-bit + any language + 4.1.0). If it's not possible to
translate the English wording properly into your language, then (more
 or
less) free text can be defined.

 See the variables l10n.dl_error_custom_1_text until
l10n.dl_error_custom_4_text (depends on the exception case) in
 msg_prop_l10n_XX.js.

 - Select boxes:

 1.
The list items can be localized. The current strings are in English and
 can be found in msg_prop_l10n_XX.js.

 See the variables l10n.dl_green_box_select_box_os_values,
 l10n.dl_green_box_select_box_language_values and
 l10n.dl_green_box_select_box_version_values in
 msg_prop_l10n_XX.js.

 2.
Furthermore, in the language select box the list items have a tool tip
(native language name + ISO code).

 BTW:
I'm now subscribed to the L10N mailinglist.

And as always, if you need more details just ask. :-)

Very cool! a nice fill in template page. :)

Taking a look at this again. I have two ideas --

 * take this email and make into an instruction page instructions.html or
 something in /download

you mean how to turn the general pages in /xx from English into the
 wished language?

   * it would be helpful to have a new file called
 localized_download.html

or something in /download as well that would contain the slightly edited
js references found, for example, in

 http://www.openoffice.org/de/downloads/index.html

with placeholders for the language js file.

Hm, can you explain a bit more or give me an example?

oh dear -- never mind! I didn't see the location you were talking about
 http://www.openoffice.org/xx

and basically what I thought we should do you'd already done.

actually it was the idea of Rob. ;-)

OK, missed this I guess.

OK, so all we need is to document the instructions and put them in /xx as
 well.

so, never mind on some of this! :/

When you think the new files still fit, just move them to /xx.

I already deleted what I'd done (and committed). I'll just make changed to
what you already have in /xx if need be.

more coming in a different thread...

 Marcus

The second item would be especially helpful to get translation
 volunteers

to help in anticipation of new language releases. They could submit the
changed download page, and the translated string js file as issues ahead
 of
time to be committed when the release comes out.

 What do you think?

Some more instruction are always good, thats right.

Most likely is because of the bits of html present (the div
class=Acta1 and corresponding closing div wrapping the text), judging
from the fact that only the links inside this block are not processed.

Any special need to create this as MDTEXT? Otherwise I would suggest
to turn it back into HTML.

The reason I converted the text to md is because I find the table much
easier to handle in md rather than in html (actually it's still a bit
confusing, I should have added some spacing to align things better), but
up to you. ;)

problem with websitse

2014-07-25 Thread Sheydon Steele

Hello, this morning I was on the website and I was in the process of Creating
a Book containing the user guide for Open Office. Apache that I downloaded and
would like to learn more about it and how to use it to it's full potential.
Anyways I had 111 pages in the book and my power went out and when it came back
on hours later I went back to the website and a window popped up asking me if I
wanted to go to the book I was creating of 111 pages to click OK, but it
didnt take me to it. Is it lost now or is there any way I can get back to it or
should I just start all over from the beginning ? Please answer me soon if at
all possible. Thank you Sheydon

I changed the problem links to HTML after a WHILE trying things and this
is out there now.

Leaving the table itself in MDTEXT will make updates easier so the mixed
version it has now is fine.

[WWW][RELEASE] how to setup web/download areas for ca-XV and ca-XR

2014-07-25 Thread Kay Schenk
We will have two new dialects with the 4.1.1 release, ca-XV, and ca-XR.
Currently, we have only a ca web are but we should do something to
accommodate the separate downloads of these new dialect releases.
Suggestions?

Hopefully we make a decision in the new few days to get ready for 4.1.1
which will be along very soon.

While I haven't read their books on Open/LibreOffice, I have been considerably
helped by their shorter writings on the same. So I would have no hesitation in
recommending anything on Open/LibreOffice by Solveig Haugland or Jean Hollis
Weber.
