We had to discontinue self registration on the m-wiki due to a spam
attack on it. To request an account send an e-mail to this list with
your requested user name and -mail address. One of the mwiki admins will
add your account and you will be e-mailed a confirmation and temporary

Unless this does something dramatically different and improved from the
existing spelling system, the English dictionary of which is very well serviced
by Marcus, I suggest that, on the "If it's not broke don't fix it" principle we
should leave the spelling system alone.

Unfortunately I don't have much information on that matter. I actually
told all I know in my first message (quoted later in this message) -
it is Microsoft's API, they used it their Office up to version 2000 if
I remember correctly and at least one programme used it in its earlier
versions - The Bat! e-mail client (rather popular in Russian-speaking
countries i.e. CIS).

DEH> and where its specification can be found.

No information on that. Of course MS must have them but it's unlikely
they would help their competitor.

No idea on that.

DEH> as well as many consumers use, or is there some other model

I know just one - The Bat!, there can be others and I think that the
first thing to do is to find what programs use it now. People that
know some progs to use it should write here for everybody to know just
to understand if there is sense to implement the API. On the other
hand programs that have to maintain their own spelling checking
engines (e.g. Opera browser) may use AOO's one in future if one is
implemented.

OpenOffice integration into accessible software project

Hello,

My name is Rebecca Luttmer, and I am part of a team developing a Java

looking for a math editor to integrate into our existing project. The math
editor must be completely accessible with a screen reader, and we are
interested in the OpenOffice math formula editor. Please tell me who I can
talk to about adding some accessibility to the editor, and also getting
information about the formula editor API and documentation. I have been to

the formula editor.

Re: Mentor

2016-05-25 Thread Patricia Shanahan

Hi Yacine,

I'll do what I can to help you, though I'm relatively new to OpenOffice.
I am a very experienced developer, just not on this program.

Are you planning to use a Microsoft Windows system for building it? If
so, you need to read
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO/Step_by_step#Windows_7.2C_Windows_8.1

The build process for OpenOffice is not simple. The code has to run on
many different systems so there is a pre-compilation configuration
process that runs scripts to prepare for your system. Do not assume that
what you do for smaller, simpler programs will work for AOO.

Start following the steps, carefully and methodically. If anything goes
wrong, ask for help.

We have had mentoring programs in the past but most of the mentorage is done on
the list mainly. Not everyone knows everything that happens on the code so
asking the dev list allows to point more on the domains of the level of code.
For starter I would suggest to read on the wiki development pages including how
the code is organized, and worked on.

Also try to compile the AOO version so your patches can be tested locally.
