Furthermore, the branches (trunk, AOO42X, AOO41X) are gone now, there

updating the translation process

2024-08-13 Thread Peter Kovacs

Hello all.

as you all know the translation process is stuck. Let me sum up the
process, issue and my proposed solution.

the basics

We still use a SDF- definition file for our UI elements. The main
benefit is that it is small. The larger po-files are used by pootle.

This makes it necessary that we convert the Sdf file into a po-file and
vice versa.

the pootle team still maintains a converter tool, which can do the job.

we have a script that automates the process. the script uses a git repo
to counter errors.

What issues do we currently have?

- the translation tool is needs a newer python version, and the version
available in the distribution does not work

- the process with git is a local safety measure.

- the script uses pootle installed tools, for extraction.

- pootle is out of maintenance using a out dated version of django and
python 2

As you see we have different issues that block this topic.

The po file format is used by other open source translation tools so we
can easily switch. This is why i would like to switch the translation
tool at the end.

first i would like to get the conversion process running. I think it
would be best if we build the conversion in github.

for this we need another translation repository.

the idea would be that

1) nighties exports sdf on build bot

2) nighties pushes the export to github. i think on a sdf branch

3) trigger creates the conversion to po file and pushes the changes into
a po branch. (using actions)

4) translation service pulls the po branch and imports it.

This differs a bit from the current process, which does not is working
locally and involves fetch from nighties and then local build. With the
issue of meeting requirements on the server.

any ideas, concerns or questions?

all the best

peter

Re: Integrating OpenOffice into a Web-Based Application

2024-08-02 Thread Peter kovacs
Hi Ian,

The only Open Source attempt i am aware of is LibreOffice Online (discontinued)
and only office.
In case of LibreOffice Online you can check out Collaboras code publication as
Dave mentioned, but this is to my knowledge not really open Source, because
otherwise TDF would not have discontinued libreOffice online. But I have not
followed the details. My understanding might be wrong.

I am not a fan of the Approach of putting AOO on a server and believe it is
save. AOO is not made for a server usage. It is made to be easily extended on a
desktop system. Once the GUI is exploitable through the web you have a security
nightmare to distinguish valid from illegit changes to the system. There are a
lot of things to be thought about.

@collaboration
Collaboration is maybe thought of an independent module. maybe exchanging
changes through a matrix channel. This is something AOO could support as a
desktop app and you have less dependencies on a web GUI for example.
Also if combined with a git document versioning there could be ways to support
users collaboration Ina n easier way.

@web GUI approach
None the less a web UI could be done by implementing a new interface. Basically
you need to extend the GUI classes. If I would have to design. That I think the
best approach would be to write a J2EE frontend with HTML5.
You can check out in the code how gtk, qt, windows and Mac UI are implemented
and you add one with a J2EE approach

Another approach is to check out the GUI less mode that AOO has, there are
GitHub Repos on the web that work with this as an interface. But the GUI less
approach is not made to scale. Using this would mean to spin up a new AOO insta
CE for each user. How those communicate I don't know.

My 2 cents
Peter

Re: Pootle Server Update

2024-02-17 Thread Peter kovacs
Hi all,
Getting the translation integration running and migrating to a different we
frontend are in my opinion 2 different things.
I have planed to look into the translation tomorrow. But I am still unsure how
that works out.

I want to open a hotbox repository for translations.
And the check if we can optimize the process there a bit.

Let me check if I can get into the Ruhr Gebiet before this date. I can

Status peter & help for facebook

2024-01-20 Thread Peter kovacs
Hello all,

I am currently very occupied with work and have not much energy left for AOO. I
hope for improvement but I do not know when this will occur.

I check the Facebook page from time to time. And answer comments. I did even
write a short heads up for 4.1.15

Arrigo wanted to help, but I lack the admin rights in order to add him, and
Facebook support was not really helpful.
Can someone ask on @Members for help to sort the Facebook page out? We need
someone from Facebook to enable us again to manage the page.

Thanks and all the best
Peter

Re: Developer - Interested in Helping

2023-11-26 Thread Peter kovacs
Hello Derek,

Welcome to Apache OpenOffice Projekt. Any volunteer is welcome to help.

You can create Pull request through GitHub. After some time of successful
participation we will grant you committer rights.

Coding. Our codebase is not modern, we work with GCC++98 standard.
A switch to c++11 is not in scope at this moment.
Please note the Projekt still officially supports windowsXP and an old MacOS
lion (I think) version.

There are currently 2 main coding initiatives ongoing:
1) eliminate 4.2.0 regression issues, and get 4.2.0 release ready.
2) replace the build environment with Scon. The current build environment is
fragile.

Other topics I have noted done in the wishlist on confluence, which is public.

I hope this helps. If you need specific urls I can provide them later.
Currently I am not at a computer.
If there is something you need just ask or open a discussion with the headline
accordingly.

Welcome!
All the best
Peter

Re: Add Mongolian to Pootle?

2023-10-11 Thread Peter kovacs
I am sorry. For my lack of participation.
Just a short summary.
I have noted the todos on the wishlist in confluence but maybe it is to rough.

We use for migrating between Po files and SDF the translation kit from pootle.
It is an own independand package. The latest version uses an newer Python
Version then available on the server.
So we need to move to the latest python /translation kit version.

However pootle itself needs python 2.7 and is not developed anymore. This means
it has an old Django version. We should look into replacing pootle. However we
have a lot of strings and text and Multifile setup. So this might be not as
easy as it sounds.

I have tried to create a docker image to become more independand from the
machine and encapsolule the Po to SDF conversion. But that needs to be tested.
On the server I have installed podman to run the docker image. But you need to
run in interactive mode.

Also maybe we need to check if we open up a gitbox repository for the
translation files. Since the changes are checked in in a git repository.

In mechtilde home folder you find the scripts we used so far. There is also
the repository.
I think I copied the repository also to the /x folder.

I have a local documentation of mechtildes scripts. I have to move this into
confluence. That Todo may be missing.

I hope this quick summary helps. All the best
Peter

For 127731, I found the problem yesterday (Microsoft's damned side-by-side

should be committed later today or tomorrow.
127783 needs testing on several platforms to isolate the bug, now that
Arrigo's ppt branch was merged.
127861 will probably need bisecting.
128094 is probably a packaging bug and needs testing and might need
bisecting.

sadly I suck with c++ debuggers.

127154 and 127966 need to be looked at by a Mac developer.

please note we have 2 project MacMinis. A intel and a m1 based system.

they are based in the US, the plan has been to set them up as build
bots. (still on this topic)

However in meanwhile i found out that you are not able to build on the
new processors for intel.

But the intel one is available to all who do not own a apple device but
need to test or develop something for AOO.

Re: [Marketing] OpenOffice in the news

2023-09-29 Thread Peter Kovacs

Am 27.09.23 um 17:14 schrieb Brian Proffitt:

Since the marketing list was closes earlier this year, I'll toss this here.

As I am sure some of you are no doubt aware, there was yet-another
call for the ASF to drop your project that made a brief blip in the
media cycle earlier this week:
https://rocket9labs.com/post/its-time-to-let-go-apache-software-foundation/
You find a lot of people who have strong believes in this direction. But
at the same time they lack a lot of individual knowledge.

Variations of this argument has been repeatedly made over the course
of OpenOffice's tenure within the ASF, and while M&P has no plans to
respond to this article or any others along these lines, I would be
remiss if I didn't recommend to the PMC that some sort of response
from the project itself (either through a statement, future roadmap, a
new release, etc.) would be a good idea.
What do you suggest? We do not have a clear way forward. I have put
together a Whishlist [1], which is the closest thing I am aware of to a
roadmap.

The fact of the matter is that because of its download popularity, the
status of OpenOffice has a very strong perceptual effect on the rest
of the ASF. So, if OpenOffice is perceived as a "dead" project, that
potentially propagates the myth that ASF is a place where projects go
to die.

Imho you fight windmills. The OpenLetter is the starting point, of this
chapter.

Usually all rants start there. Whoever tackles this needs to be a envoy
and a diplomat. The gambit is the TDF. Only if the TDF publicly support
the ASF and AOO, the situation will improve.

This does not mean that we merge. However I would like to see a merge
for multiple reasons.

Again, this is just a recommendation. As long as OpenOffice abides by
the governance of the ASF, you are free to make your own choices. Let
me know if you need assistance in addressing this issue, happy to
volunteer some time to it.

I do not believe that the PMC can do anything. What would give us
leverage is if we can get the code under control (release 4.2 , new
build environment).

 We need to do improvements in the code, and align together that we
focus on the right tasks.

But if you have suggestions what we can communicate I am willing to
hear. I mean I owe you all a report from Froscon. I am so sorry I did
not find the time and muse yet to finish my report.

I wanted to start also some clothes discussion for next year.

One thing is, i am currently the only one who can post on facebook.
since i currently dont use it, there is no one. but I lack authority to
bring volunteers in. someone needs to talk to FB. I dont know what to do
here.

All the best

It is not limited to FreeBSD. I get the same failure on Debian

The problem appears to be that gcc is getting confused when compiling
line 1884 of ucbstorage.cxx. It ends up trying to call the thunk to the
acquire() method of a non-existent class. That thunk isn't defined, so
the linker bombs on the undefined symbol.

I reproduced it with OpenSUSE Linux Leap 15.4, using the provided gcc-10.

However, the problem seems to be at line 1879:

com::sun::star::uno::Reference < ::com::sun::star::io::XInputStream >
xInputStream( pHelper );

It seems to compile if we split it as follows:

com::sun::star::uno::Reference < ::com::sun::star::io::XInputStream >
xInputStream;
xInputStream = pHelper;

This _should_ work as it is how method
Reference UCBStorageStream_Impl::GetXInputStream()
does: it returns an instance of Reference on which
it calls calls operator= with a OInputStreamWrapper

I have no idea how to test this, though.

Can you please verify if the above restores compilation?

Re: doc file made Word hang

Hello Regina,

Thank you for the link. Since the plcbteChpx refers to data Objects, do
you have a reference file to inspect?

I was told by an employee of Microsoft, that OpenOffice produces a
file which made Word hang. Word deals with the hang in the meantime,
nevertheless OpenOffice should not produce such file. The problem in
the doc file was described to me as:

Word expects that every character of text in the document has some
record of character level formatting in plcbteChpx as detailed in the
DOC file spec here:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/office_file_formats/ms-doc/ccd7b486-7881-484c-a137-51170af7cc22
 Unfortunately, the plcbteChpx ends a few characters shy of the end of
the document, leaving the final paragraph marker without any data,
possibly the section mark character as well.

Kind regards,
Regina

fork the Project https://github.com/apache/openoffice-project - on the
page top right you see a button "Fork"

then clone the project to your machine. git clone

switch to the branch missing-pictures and continue editing.

lf you want to check the results offline you can follow guide
https://infra.apache.org/asf-pelican-local.html. (the script will clone
the site ) But the setup does only work on mac and Linux.

Once done with your work, sync with your fork. On github create a merge
request back to apache missing-pictures branch. A button should apear
automaticly, just check for the right branch.

I don't see a FAQ that needs to be rewritten. However, it's just the

Yes, could be done. But it's no big deal to do it manually. It's

just

- copy & paste the old text+links
- exchange a few data

# fixate the banner and menu on top without overlap effect

I don't see a different behavior when I open / close the Project

Another point:
The separator line and the "Continue Reading" link are differently
positioned for every blog item. It depends how long the blog text

is.

So, the text length could be fixed. Let's see.

Hi,

FYI, I recently learned about using "winget".

This is Microsofts commandline package manager for Windows 10/11.

While the OpenOffice package information is still showing 4.1.13 [1] one
can always install the latest version from msstore:

winget install XP89J5462CMGJD

If you want to install AOO in a different language simply add the
locale, e.g.:

winget install XP89J5462CMGJD --locale en-US

BTW: We have 38 of our 41 locales available in msstore (missing are:
ast, ca-XV, ca-XR).

For detailed info about AOO use:

winget show XP89J5462CMGJD

   Matthias

It is not in the form of a roadmap, but it already contains a lot of

I did not have this page on my mind. I have various points not noted,

The difficulty rating is a way to help newcomers understand what kind
of task they should start with.

Tasks whose difficulty is hardly estimated could go into an "Undecided
difficulty" list... ;-)

we need to implement a small part. However

the patch is on the list but not as PR or in code.

This sounds ``very challenging'' to me ;-)

Damjan wrote he did the hard part. So why do you estimate very challenging?

I assume because it is unclear what needs to be exactly done. At least
this is my issue most of the time.

If we could note what is the topic to work on, and how it needs to be
resolved it becomes much easier, even if the plan has flaws.

Also i keep loosing track what we need to finish. Or what issues can be
combined.

I added a short description at least for AOO41X now.

Thank you!

While re-reading my own paragraph above, I think it sounded
polemical. This was not my intention, I apologize. My intention was to
ask for something I did not think I could do very well.

No problem!

In fact I always wanted to add a Readme and never really did it.

But I have no idea for AOO42X, this is our "AOO Forever" branch. ;-)

Maybe someone else has an idea?

Hello Rizwan,

Thank you for taking interest in the OpenOffice Project.

We are not really organized in an industrial way. We are volunteers
working on this project for the public welfare.

However we have always need for volunteers. One main difference is that
we do not use hierarchical structures unlike common in industry.

We move by consent and meritocracy principles.

You know best how your skills are used. It is up to you how you engage.

 I see following topics in web sphere, without any priority applied:

 * robot.txt for mediawiki, forum (maybe better title is outtakes
   mediawiki & forum)
 * migration pootle
 * update mediawiki
 * migration blog to pelican
 * update opengrok
 * migration to container based services (actually I see that as part
   of above points)
 * we need to do something with the extension page
 * forum maintenance

anyone has more points web related?

It depends...

If Googletest is build with the option

our build will fail, because TEST Macro will change name to GTEST_TEST, in
order to avoid overlap with other testsuites.
If build without the option our build works.

I guess that distributors likely will activate this option. In case we want to

This is a question of distribution. Languages are an extension too. We
offer preinstalled versions.

So why remove this ability from your suggestion?

How do we handle installations that are disconnected or have a slow
connection?

And How can we Change Extensions that they are more accessible to users?

  Moreover, this could
improve the gallery to make it much more interesting and complete, with an
almost infinite choice of images, illustrations, icons and even audio files

more interesting and useful compared to before and other software such as
LibreOffice.

I agree the feature will improve the gallery.

[discussion] looking for Contributor "campaign"

Hi all,

I came across

https://dev.to/opensauced/whos-looking-for-open-source-contributors-week-38-16e9

And it got me thinking. I would like to advertise for help. But so far
our on boarding quota is really bad, since we relay on the volunteers
long term motivation.

so i would like to call for help on specific tasks. These tasks are
promoted in a contribute.md file. I would like to break down tasks in
small steps so volunteer engagement is quickly achieved.

And i would like to build feature roadmaps. So we can promote them, and
become more structured. Of course this approach is to be seen as an
addition on how we engage today.

What do you think?

Hello Yury

You can build more or less every module on its own. If there is a dependency
module then you need the inc header files and the module binary to link against.
At least this is my understanding on the build architecture.

I hope I have time soon to look into build utility again. Since the topic has

I did implement the feature, but it is still untested. However it did compile.
So I try to prepare a PR so maybe someone else can test.
I hope I can prepare this weekend.

Dear OpenOffice Deverlopers.

When I try to import the above player information their CSS code brackets seem
to go unseen by the OO installation during importing. So the problem is that
the name of the school should be in the same row right after the name of the
player and we wanted to ask for someones help with this please.

We'd like a quote for helping us import the above maxpreps.com link into
OpenOffice Calc by keeping the players data in single row upon import with
delimiter like CSS brackets please. Thanks.

I reached out to the forum with the same question first:

Sorry, your vote was in a "comment" area. I didn't realize that.

my mistake. I was lazy.

I installed the X64 version of Adoptium JAVA 11 on our M1 machine and
could open the file without problem.

So this would be something for the Release Notes, macOS section?

yes I have managed to work around the issue by executing the following
steps. (other guides faild)

sudo softwareupdate --install-rosetta
brew tap adoptopenjdk/openjdk && brew install --cask adoptopenjdk8
browse Add java to
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/adoptopenjdk-8.jdk/Contents/bin

Isn't Rosetta installed as default? I didn't have to do all this, it
just worked.

I had no java installed. Most java guides I found lead to the behavior.

I wound like to test more. is it possible to wait until wednesday?

Maybe. But personally I don't think this is a release blocker.

I agree, but I want to check a little more. I am late to the party. :)

for some reason, our Catalina-based macMini shared instance is giving

Buttons do not seem to behave properly.

The menus work: I can click File -> New and have a new document.

I believe that these problems are given by the remote control program
I am using. I would be grateful if anyone with a ``physical'' mac in

confirm that the UI of the current RC is working as expected.

Re: Buildbot problems

2023-01-15 Thread Peter Kovacs

Am 15.01.23 um 07:12 schrieb Damjan Jovanovic:

Hi

I am trying to get all the buildbots working again, but there are many
problems...

1. All the Windows buildbots are failing in "./configure" with:
configure: error: cannot run /bin/sh ./config.sub

This could be due to \r\n line endings or a BOM on main/config.sub, but
I've checked and it uses neither in Git, so I have no idea what's wrong.
How do we retrieve config.log from the buildbot?

maybe autoconf is missing? the win bots will fail anyways because of
wrong awk.

2. Git-based projects are supposed to use
https://github.com/apache/infrastructure-bb2 instead of the SVN-based
https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/infrastructure/buildbot2 that we use.
They're different repositories, not different links to the same repository.

I have updated the links in build column.

3. The "puppet" links on
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Buildbot+info are
dead. In the table on that page, all the "Build", "Host VM", and "Logs"
links are dead.

It turns out that for "Logs", the link should be, for instance:
https://nightlies.apache.org/openoffice/buildlogs/linux64*/log/log/*
unxlngx6.pro.build.html
instead of:
https://nightlies.apache.org/openoffice/buildlogs/linux64*/log/*
unxlngx6.pro.build.html
probably because the buildbot's openoffice.py file does:
'mkdir' , '-p' , 'log/logarch/log'
'cp -fv log/*.html log/logarch/log'
mkdir -p buildlogs/linux64/log && cp -rp log/logarch/* buildlogs/linux64/log
so that's why we end up with the .../log/log/... in the path.
Ideas?

no idea.

4. On https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Buildbot, the "Buildbot
Configuration File" link was dead, but I was able to fix it to use the new
link. The link to the "overview" probably goes to the wrong page (shouldn't
it be the "Waterfall View" page on ci2.apache.org?).

5. On https://nightlies.apache.org/openoffice/ all the "Build Logs" links
are dead. Many/all of the SDK links are dead.

I am not sure but i think the sdks were deactivated.

we can add them anytime if needed.

Please help?

Thank you
Damjan

Hi

Please leave them alone. They all have their purpose, and they work in very
specific ways to accomplish their tasks.

I did not think about java integration. Good point!

The main/tools String with its 16 bit length, saves space for the large
number of strings in Calc cells.

I am not sure what you mean. mnLen is sal_Int32 and Sal_char is 8 bit.

rtl/strbuf uses almost the same data structure. Maybe I miss something?

The main/sal OString and OUString are 32 bit and copy-on-write, like Java's
java.lang.String. Also UNO serializes to and from OUString for C++.

I do agree that string type changes will be necessary in some cases. For
example if we want to increase our 16 bit limit on maximum paragraph size
to 32 bits, we will probably have to change the tools String to a longer
string type.

The real crap classes that should be replaced ASAP are the 16 bit main/svl
PTRARR, which I replaced in 2 places in
https://github.com/apache/openoffice/pull/164, but which is used in another
53 places (
http://opengrok.openoffice.org/search?project=trunk&full=SV_DECL_PTRARR&defs=&refs=&path=&hist=&type=&si=full).
Many 16 bit limits come from that class. And I now discovered another 22
usages of SV_DECL_PTRARR_SORT. The problem is, that has many knock-on
effects, as is clear from the size of my PR.

I have look on those. Thanks.

We also have a bunch of primitive pre-STL main/tools classes like Container
and List, written around 1994 and generally not very good at anything,
including performance.

I'll have a look on those, too.

Yes, the way C++ is used in OpenOffice is unusual and foreign to everyone.
But eventually it makes sense. Start with one of the more recently
developed modules, like the OOXML filter in main/oox, or the Base
application in main/dbaccess, which were written closer to 2010 and are
much cleaner, easier to read and understand, use STL containers, etc. I've
been improving that OOXML filter lately and could help you get started.

Thanks for your feedback!

All the best

FWIW, I'm using for a year and a half the AOO trunk built from source
in C++11 mode, with GCC 10 through 12 (Slackware current). I believe
I've posted the patch here, and it still works (allows building in my

I check for the patch.

However, in recent such builds 'macro security' button (Options-
OpenOffice - Security dialog) stopped responding, and macros in Java
and Python stopped being launched (first try gives warning about
'document containing macros', subsequent tries do nothing).
What GUI Do you use? Have you opened a BZ report for this? We might need
to investigate.

I would like to write the issues here for documentation.

1, 2 and 3 are Issues on the old dependencies we build. All other
Issues was on our Code as far as I understand.

1) CoinMP

1.1) dmake builds with C17 standard

I have seen a lot of warnings that register is not allowed to use with
C++17 Standard.

(I worked around from building the Library directly and then use dmake
in order to continue.)

1.2) Macro Variable not set.

In the file CoinFinite.cpp  the following code has not worked through:

[...]

#ifdef HAVE_CFLOAT
# include

[...]

I was not able to figure out how to fix this. I did just add the
include line again without the ifdef condition.

2)SQLite

I had to do 3 Adjustments.

2.1) in one line is follort by an assert statement, which triggers a
error in g++.

workaround: Added a linebreak

2.2) A warning that a Pointer is returned.

See following discussion:

https://sqlite.org/forum/info/eadcdb7058803d20

In fact I added following Change:

https://www.sqlite.org/src/vdiff?branch=cgo-warning-workaround&dc=20

Just be carefull with line 143. Just add pAllocated =

3) Boost

I had to change the file

main/solver/450/unxlngx6/inc/boost/mpl/assert.hpp

I ended up changing and commenting out:

//template< typename Pred >(Pred::assert_arg( void (*)(Pred), typename
assert_arg_pred::type ));
//template< typename Pred >(boost::mpl::not_::assert_not_arg(
void (*)(Pred), typename assert_arg_pred_not::type ));

I am not sure if this is a local issue, or if this is in general. The
lines look odd. (it is line 186 if you want to have a look.)

4) osl mutex

main/sal/osl/unx/mutex.c

I commented out the following code:
#if defined LINUX /* bad hack /
int pthread_mutexattr_setkind_np(pthread_mutexattr_t *, int);
#define pthread_mutexattr_settype pthread_mutexattr_setkind_np
#define PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE_NP
#endif

Not sure what the background is, but it compiled afterwards.

5)  CUI

main/cui/Library_cui.mk

I had this issue before. And I am not able to figure out what the
issue is exactly. Maybe my version number is wrong.

$(eval $(call gb_Library_add_defs,cui,
-DBUILD_VER_STRING="$(BUILD_VER_STRING)" ))

So I skipped the line for now:

My line:

--with-build-version="aoo4ever-$(date +"%Y-%m-%d %H:%M") - $(uname
-sm)\n ${GitHash}"

I will have a look if I can change something in order to improve this.

I had no other issues with the build. Especially the Issue Matthias
has reported did not appear.

I will keep looking on the Issues Matthias has reported. I assume this
is more a Windows Issue.

I hope this information is useful to some.

Have a good new years end party. :)

I do not see a technical Issue. AOO is loading a profile and can write

It should not be a problem to write a export function, based on the code

Also we should be able if we cant load the profile instead of crashing
to default back to the profile we load when no profile exists. Which
also should be an improvement.

I hope we will provide a solution within next year, as commented by Jon

Thank you for the feedback.

I was not thinking of Profile corruption (although the solution for
some issues is resetting the profile which means that some part of

It was more a tool to Backup a working profile and hopefully being
able to import it in another machine.

Having separate check boxes to import/export different parts of the
profile was my main idea (it could also be used as debugging tool
to pinpoint the problem when a corruption actually occurs)

Resetting a profile (as suggested repeatedly) solves some problems
but wastes a lot of time and effort that the user already had
accumulated in his profile.

As an example, it would be really useful to backup the personal
dictionary on one computer and being able to import (merge?) in
another.
I am aware that you can dig in to the profile structure and copy a
file. But a common user would not do that.

Can this be done with an extension?

sure we can create this as an extension. The Main issue is still we
need
to integrate the functionality.

In the file CoinFinite.cpp  the following code has not worked through:

[...]

#ifdef HAVE_CFLOAT
# include

[...]

I was not able to figure out how to fix this. I did just add the include
line again without the ifdef condition.

2)SQLite

I had to do 3 Adjustments.

2.1) in one line is follort by an assert statement, which triggers a
error in g++.

workaround: Added a linebreak

2.2) A warning that a Pointer is returned.

See following discussion:

https://sqlite.org/forum/info/eadcdb7058803d20

In fact I added following Change:

https://www.sqlite.org/src/vdiff?branch=cgo-warning-workaround&dc=20

Just be carefull with line 143. Just add pAllocated =

3) Boost

I had to change the file

main/solver/450/unxlngx6/inc/boost/mpl/assert.hpp

I ended up changing and commenting out:

//template< typename Pred >(Pred::assert_arg( void (*)(Pred), typename
assert_arg_pred::type ));
//template< typename Pred >(boost::mpl::not_::assert_not_arg( void
(*)(Pred), typename assert_arg_pred_not::type ));

I am not sure if this is a local issue, or if this is in general. The
lines look odd. (it is line 186 if you want to have a look.)

4) osl mutex

main/sal/osl/unx/mutex.c

I commented out the following code:
#if defined LINUX /* bad hack /
int pthread_mutexattr_setkind_np(pthread_mutexattr_t *, int);
#define pthread_mutexattr_settype pthread_mutexattr_setkind_np
#define PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE_NP
#endif

Not sure what the background is, but it compiled afterwards.

5)  CUI

main/cui/Library_cui.mk

I had this issue before. And I am not able to figure out what the issue
is exactly. Maybe my version number is wrong.

$(eval $(call gb_Library_add_defs,cui,
-DBUILD_VER_STRING="$(BUILD_VER_STRING)" ))

So I skipped the line for now:

My line:

--with-build-version="aoo4ever-$(date +"%Y-%m-%d %H:%M") - $(uname
-sm)\n ${GitHash}"

I will have a look if I can change something in order to improve this.

I had no other issues with the build. Especially the Issue Matthias has
reported did not appear.

I will keep looking on the Issues Matthias has reported. I assume this
is more a Windows Issue.

I hope this information is useful to some.

Have a good new years end party. :)

All the best

Peter

I can test Windows in the next days. I have 2 Monitors. I just was not

Good morning,
I'd like to evidence a bug in Calc.

The base system information are:
- PC: HP Working Station ZBook
- OS: Win10.
- Monitor:
    - Monitor 1: HP Working Station ZBook
    - Monitor 2: Extension Philips 272B

The conditions are:
1) _Use Calc in monitor 2_.
2) Press Ctrl-F to open the Search and Substitute Box.
_Leave the Search and Substitute Box on Monitor 1._
3) Click on More Option Button.
  The Search and Substitute Box disappear, it's no more visible.

The only system to view again the Search and Substitute Box is:
- disconnect the Monitor 2
- open the Search and Substitute Box again.

This bug is present for a long time now and very old version.

Re: Profile Backup/Restore

2022-12-30 Thread Peter Kovacs

Hi Pedro,

Hi all

Thank you for the feedback.

I was not thinking of Profile corruption (although the solution for some issues
is resetting the profile which means that some part of it was corrupted?)

It was more a tool to Backup a working profile and hopefully being able to
import it in another machine.

Having separate check boxes to import/export different parts of the profile was
my main idea (it could also be used as debugging tool to pinpoint the problem
when a corruption actually occurs)

Resetting a profile (as suggested repeatedly) solves some problems but wastes a
lot of time and effort that the user already had accumulated in his profile.

As an example, it would be really useful to backup the personal dictionary on
one computer and being able to import (merge?) in another.
I am aware that you can dig in to the profile structure and copy a file. But a
common user would not do that.

Can this be done with an extension?

sure we can create this as an extension. The Main issue is still we need
to integrate the functionality.

All the best

Peter

Thanks!
Pedro

There is one script from Hana that resets the user profile. We need to package
it and make it execute by menue

I have the suspicion that the profile corruption is related to the file
corruption issue. On power fail, or sleep a file can become corrupted when AOO
tries to write in the same moment.
It is quite hard to create this.

Hi all

Is there any extension to Backup/Restore the contents of the User

Profile?

I don't mean copy files but actually exporting and importing the

contents?

If there isn't, is any of the developers on this mailing list interested

in creating one?

I believe this would be a great contribution to all OpenOffice users...

I volunteer to do any testing required!

I think this has been discussed several times in the last years, but
nothing ever happened.

I am a bit concerned that this time you didn't even get a reaction...

It's the festive season, many people aren't reading emails.

Personally, I would prefer an extension (OS independent), but I could
imagine problems with copying/restoring the profile while AOO is still
active.

Is the user profile only read at startup and written to at shutdown or is it
more dynamic than that?
If so that could be a problem for doing it during a session, especially the
restore part.

Making a backup copy during the session is probably reasonable though.

If profile corruption is such a problem, why don't we fix it?

I've been using since Star Office and never once had a corrupt file or profile.
But I also never suspended a laptop with applications running either.

best regards,
Carl

Where are the bug reports?
