 Hi List,

I have prepared a blog entry (currently draft) since I saw that LO had
currently integrated some stuff from our codebase, e.g. the SVG import
feature I added to AOO3.4. I wanted to share this with you before
publishing. Please have a look here:

+1 a very well written article, I share your conclusions and polite way of
explaning it. Well done.

As you write going the other way (use source from derivates in AOO) might
prove more difficult, just alone the license issues...is there a rule which
licenses are accepted as equal to ours (I think none) ?

A small correction, it seems that they don't have a 3.7 branch anymore,
coincidently with Rob announcement of IBM plans (AOO.Next IBM
Priorities from 1 Nov.), their ESC decided to switch 3.7 to 4.0

Interesting. I see they made a call for QA volunteers immediately
after we did as well.

Clearly both projects have been considering and discussing when to do a
4.0 release for a while. I for one am rather pleased with the amount of
innovation feature-function we've worked on in LibreOffice recently
am looking forward to 4.0.

As a random data-point that ESC call was at 15:00 UTC Nov 1st - though
the minutes were posted a day later as is reasonably normal for busy
people; in general we don't base our release plan on Rob's posts :-)

ATB,

Michael.
