In addition to issue #542, the problem of damage to large areas was exacerbated by another issue: https://github.com/systemed/iD/issues/1693. The effect of #1693 was that small areas (buildings, parks, etc.) would sometimes be rendered below larger areas, meaning that when a user tried to select
