Dave and I conferred and we've agreed he's in a better position today to
chair the PMC. I'm happy to be in a able to learn from him in the inaugural
year, assuming a successful petition to graduate.

This PMC Chair nominations thread is closed. Will reach out to both Dave and
Rodric, as both appeared to defer to each other, to see if either wants to step
back and perhaps we can reduce the need for a competitive VOTE (and have just
an affirmation VOTE as this may be asked for) and move
+1 on either Dave or Rodric taking the chair. Both are excellent
candidates and ideally suited to the role.

Already expressed this privately to both Dave and Rodric they are a good
candidates to be chair and to not be afraid of the responsibilities.
Is more of admin on point to keep us in sync with the board and mostly make

A one year rotation makes sense to me.
I’d like to nominate Dave Grove for consideration. Dave is engaged on the
general list, and I’ve consulted him many times on the Apache Way and for
pointers to Apache docs. He’s also lead several releases and followed up on
issues noted during voting to

I was going to say that!
In extreme cases the chair might have to make decisions on behalf of
the PMC but in 19 years at Apache I
Hi,
Just a reminder, the chair is not a leadership role, but it it more a
secretarial and admin role in that they report to board on how the project is
going and make sure the projects rosters are kept up to date. Setting direction
for the project is not part of that role, see [1]
Thanks,
Thanks Dominic for the kind words. I'm humbled.
It's been wonderful seeing several committers emerge to also lead this
project and contribute in various ways. It would be amazing to see others
also considered as a testament to the maturity of the project.

I'll note as a PMC Chair of another project here, it's not a heavy
burden at all, especially if you're already reading the mailing lists
and participating in release votes. Please be encouraged to volunteer
to chair the PMC!

This link http://www.apache.org/dev/pmc.html#chair is helpful to understand
the duties of the PMC chair.
