Nevertheless, I have to take note that there are such users. The the question is if can satisfy all users that have problems to find the right install set. When we get such a report here and there, then I think there is no real big need at the moment and a quick answer to this user is faster than investing hours of thinking and trying to improve the download experience in general. and if the user chooses "Windows" you could show him directly the additional info that he has to make sure to install a 32 bit Java later ... I think he’s talking about a new version of OpenOffice.org/downloads/index.html That already does detect the os. There’s a big JavaScript object with a bunch of data. Use your browser developer tools to see how it works.
