MSO is able to import(!) ODF (limited) since MSO2003 with an additional app provided by [SUN|MS]. Since MSO 2007 it is able to do it out of the box (still limited) but enough for normal use cases. The support of ODF is getting better with each version. I guess the user talks about MSO2003
