Yeah, no kidding. ;)

Hopefully things will settle down on the tools front before too much
longer and we can work on updating docs, etc.

All that would be really nice to have.

Would
https://pagure.io/fedrepo_req/issue/64
solve the POC change issue? That was a bit frustrating, because after
passing the review process, I scheduled my other engagements on the
assumption that getting commit access would take a couple of days at
worst and five days later I'm still waiting for that (again, my
mistake and all, assumption being the mother of all hiccups). I guess
the team has been really stretched thin dealing with that huge number
of tickets.

Its temporary.

My understanding is that soon fedpkg will be able to request all this
(wrapping the fedrepo-req details).

See:
https://pagure.io/fedpkg/issue/137

We should make sure and ask that you can request the new package and all
the branches you want at the same time.

and
https://pagure.io/fedrepo_req/pull-request/106

Right. The fprintd test update has been published before the strictly
needed selinux-policy update. Meanwhile, the latter is available, too,
so the issue should be gone.

It's all in the Fedora Updates System where more people warning about
such breakage would be helpful.

Combining repo/branch requests with POC changes for orphaned/retired packages

2017-09-21 Thread Alexander Ploumistos
Hello all,

Until last week, I hadn't gone through the new process for requesting
repos and branches or unretiring and unorphaning packages and though I
had read the "WhatHappenedToPkgdb" page, none of the intricacies had
stuck.
After a previously orphaned and retired package got approved, I filed
a request for the repo, separate requests for each branch and after
another day of not being able to push into the remote, I realized that
I had to file a POC change request as well (my mistake, obviously).
A few days ago there was a thread here, where the reasoning behind not
automating repo creation was explained and I am fine with keeping a
choke point under human control, but is it really necessary to break
down the whole process into so many steps, that require human
intervention? With PkgDB we had to file a single request in rhbz for a
new repo, all the branches and ownership change. Does releng really
want all that on its plate, or is this situation temporary, until the
kinks in pagure are ironed out?

Thanks
Alex

It's called perl-Test-Simple because the upstream distribution on CPAN is
called Test-Simple (https://metacpan.org/release/Test-Simple).

Here's a useful trick for you: to install an arbitrary perl module from the
Fedora repos, even if you don't know which package it's in, e.g. Test::Simple,
do:

# dnf install 'perl(Name::Of::Module)'
e.g.
# dnf install 'perl(Test::Simple)'

The packages themselves use dependencies in this format because modules move
from one distribution to another from time to time, and this format works
whichever package ends up shipping a module.

[Bug 1494175] New: This package should mention that it includes Test:: More so that it is searchable with DNF or change its name

2017-09-21 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1494175

Bug ID: 1494175
Summary: This package should mention that it includes
Test::More so that it is searchable with DNF or change
its name
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 25
 Component: perl-Test-Simple
  Assignee: p...@city-fan.org
  Reporter: abc.mi...@googlemail.com
QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: jples...@redhat.com, p...@city-fan.org,
perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org, ppi...@redhat.com

Description of problem:

The perl package does not have a dependency for perl-Test-Simple which contains
Test::More in it, also the name/description for perl-Test-Simple doesn't follow
the normal perl naming conventions making it non-trivial to find.

What's more Test::More is a troublesome package to install you can't install it
through CPAN as it is a install dependency for itself.

A quick look of course shows this to be an issue with the retiring of
webkitgtk as that's no longer in the repos for webkit-sharp to build
against, which then means sparkleshare doesn't have its dependency
satisfied.

According to the sparkleshare release notes[0] the 1.3.0 release added the
gtk3 bindings... so any of those ought to help.

The build dependencies are more complex than I can do in a few minutes
though[1]

The 2.0 release the release notes states has breaking changes from 1.X ...

To get this updated someone needs to package webkit2-sharp (and any
dependencies that needs to build) ... gtk-sharp3 is already packaged though
which should help.

They say that as of 2.0 they have a flatpak release - have you tried that
so at least you'll have access to the application in F27?

Running the tests with the power cord plugged in is fine, but to get
info on how much power this actually saves you need to be running on
battery since most laptops can only measure power-consumption while
running on battery. After getting the initial idle and idle power
consumption with the new med_power_with_dipm policy activated you
can run with the cord plugged in.

SONAME bump: Update OpenSceneGraph to 3.4.1

2017-09-21 Thread Ralf Corsepius

Hi,

I am going to update OpenSceneGraph from 3.4.0 to 3.4.1 on rawhide (for
now).

This will be accompanied with SONAME bumps of various shared libs
supplied by OpenSceneGraph and thus will require rebuilds of several
packages depending on these libs. I intend to take care of these and to
rebuild them.

Unless this update encounters major problems, I am considering to
subsequently also update OpenSceneGraph on fc27.

Re: rawhide packages not getting pushed?

2017-09-21 Thread Ralf Corsepius

On 09/20/2017 10:16 PM, Peter Robinson wrote:

Thanks, this seems to have done it.

Though *-9.fc28 doesn't seem to have landed in rawhide, I see it being
pulled in through rawhide/latest in mock ;)

State of Sparkeshare in Fedora

2017-09-21 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga
Sparkleshare package is currently behind upstream which just reach 2.0[1][2]
The maintainer was contacted for updating the package with current broken
dependency below on Fedora 27 and above:

 Problem: package sparkleshare-1.2.0-8.fc26.x86_64 requires mono(webkit-sharp)
= 1.1.15.0, but none of the providers can be installed
  - conflicting requests
  - nothing provides webkitgtk needed by webkit-sharp-0.3-19.fc26.x86_64

 but no response so far[3][4].
As the application is used by Design Team, could someone make the change
because I cannot access it?
Thanks in advance,

Luya
