Hello there!
My name is Karl, and I'm wondering if I can be of any (development)
assistance. I know Linux, Java and, to a lesser extent, Qt.
Please don't hesitate to give me a shout back, thank you!

downloads to Journal, it is a little
timeconsuming to exit Firefox and open Browse to download a pdf or
other format.
Some annotation tool is probably a must for education.

The control panel called Date and time could maybe be renamed
Timezones as you really don't set or see either date or time with the
current one.

Bert have implemented Etoy saving to the Journal but I guess the
backporting that to older Squeak images Scratch use could be a issue.

Hi Erik, John et al,
Scratch is hot in the field right now!
Kids are posting Scratch projects out of Uruguay
of different users have
their own agenda and objectives.
Therefor a plethora of images are available and are specialized for
their use, much like different Linux distributions.

A little off topic here, but I saw this cool video on how to make a
cheap multi touch input device:

With this, one could start experimenting with features and possible
issues such a device brings up.

and drag of not-an-object (like a
paintbrush).
In fact, just doing that right would resolve the worst Frame
interaction with Paint since the Frame would not activate if you enter
the corner with mouse down but you are not dragging anything.

We get the environment tested thoroughly here and that is really good.

just load all the
projects and save the image with them loaded. You would have a giant
image but switching would be quick. External projects is more a feature
of etoys to make projects shareable and keep the image 'clean'.

In general what we would like to see is more animation
Congratulations !
I have not looked at the latest stuff yet, but it looked impressive a
few weeks back :-)

Olpc-update fails to load any updates for me in after Joyride-1872. It
says there is no such update in updates.laptop.org. Anybody else
experiencing this ?

A activity with Squeak would be nice, and even useful :-) It could just
be the Etoy dev image with write permission.

Have good lighting and a distinctly colored object.
Pick the color from the object with the color picker and a yellow
ellipse on screen will track relative how you move the object.
This is just a demo , more to come later...

on other platforms, but with Journal and the ZIP UI
using a tiny font is is quite useless.
Html rendering is not great, but works for basic simple html.
What MIME type do you think it should not claim ?

Is there a way to zap the Journal and all the Journal entries and get a
fresh new Journal. Kind of what one do on a USB stick when one delete
the .olpc.store file on it ? Or do I have to reflash the Nand ?

On builds 653 and later (G1G1 machines shipped with 650), you can open
Terminal and do:
$ echo /home/olpc/.sugar/default/datastore
to annotate the text, put in bookmarks, etc ? I find that
the reader does not remember which page I was on last time I was
reading. I'm using the latest stable image 653.
