OK, I figured out exactly when we need more space in /var/tmp: If yum is
being run as a _user_ (e.g. to search for packages), yum will download
*full* repository information into /var/tmp/yum-user-random. This
happens even if sudo yum update has been run a few seconds before
in olpc-os-builder). I didn't notice any
error that I believe to have been caused by running out of space on the
tmpfsen. (The only error that occurred was during the logrotate update
and reproducible in a second run.)
As a result, we're dropping this patch for Dextrose 3.

just though it was a strange behavior. I commented the line in
preimage.90.core.sh and everything build fine. Later I ran the optimization on
the XO itself and everything ran fine.

Are you executing osbuilder.py using sudo? If you're using sudo
olpc-os-builder have a problem when it executes chroot.
You must to try using root user.

i followed the instruction in the read me of olpc-os-builder as
1. install Fedora 11,
2. install the build dependencies:
yum install zlib-devel libtomcrypt-devel glibc-headers
3. build the package:
make install
4. install the run-time dependencies
as you won't normally get
away with stuff that will download during the day...

need the repodata/ directory as well.
I do not recall how to use a local repository in .ini files, but there's
a modules/repos/README file in olpc-os-builder that may help.
