Re: [Sugar-devel] Problem importing hulahop.webview() in sugar emulator
Hello Tomeu, I tried installing hulahop again as you suggested on fedora-11 and it got installed properly. Now, the socialcalc and the browse activity are running as well. Thank you for your guidance. Also wished to discuss that we are planning to port SocialCalc on various linux distros starting from Fedora. The first approach which we are considering is by using a pygtk based root-level window to embed hulahop.webview widget in quite a similar fashion as it has been done in Sugar currently. Do you think it would be a feasible approach? Is there any other approach which you suggest would be better? Kindly give some pointers on the issue. While trying to run socialcalc on sugar emulator running on Fedora and Ubuntu, error saying No module hulahop was occurring. So, we tried installing hulahop on these linux distributions. 1. Firstly we tried with ubuntu-8.10, here are the exact steps taken- xulrunner was pre-installed. And then I installed python-support.deb and libxul0d.deb which are pre-requistie packages for python-xpcom package (other pre-requistie packages were already installed). Then i installed python-xpcom. And then I installed python-hulahop and hulahop. Downlaod links for these packages are as follows:- http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/intrepid/python/python-xpcom http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/intrepid/hulahop http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/intrepid/python-hulahop Now, though hulahop was getting imported but while using hulahop.webview, an error saying hulahop has no attribute webview occured. However, when we checked the hulahop folder, there was a file named webview.py, so this problem might be because of some kind of wrongly set library paths. 2. Then we tried it with ubuntu-9.10, with similar steps but got the same result. 3. Then we tried it with fedora-11- Installed hulahop and then xpcom from the following link- http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/mandriva/2009.1/i586/media/main/release/python-xpcom-1.9.0.8-1mdv2009.1.i586.html This is a Mandriva package. I recommend using the tools available in each distro for installing software. In Fedora it would be: yum install hulahop We tried yum install hulahop but it said no package named hulahop, our first approach on fedora was to use yum and on ubuntu was to use apt get, but both gave the same results. In Fedora 11, this is the ouput of yum search hulahop: [to...@zviratko ~]$ yum search hulahop Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, presto, refresh-packagekit === Matched: hulahop === hulahop.i586 : A pygtk widget for embedding mozilla Are you sure you wrote the name of the package correctly? Re: (fwd) Re: Bug#570936: xserver-xorg-video-geode: DPI incorrect on XO-1
It is likely that this Xorg change explains the VERY TINY text I saw when I ran the recent soas-testing-day-13-02-10.iso build on my XO-1. If one goes upstream from Bug#570936, one comes to an explanation by Daniel Stone: It was chosen in order to make display of web pages using Xorg more consistent with the way they get displayed on Windows, which by default assumes 96. Is it an official position of X.org developers? Is it documented anywhere? Sure, consider it an official position. ... I do agree that being able to configure the reported DPI (or just Option DontForce96DPI) would be entirely useful, but I can't see us changing anything in the near future, particularly if it breaks web page display. I wonder how many of the developers -- who chose to change Xorg to now ALWAYS tell applications that the DPI is 96 -- are using Windows on a small (laptop or netbook) system ? mikus ___ Devel mailing list Devel@lists.laptop.org http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel

(re-adding the lists) On Tue, 2010-02-23 at 06:55 -0600, Mikus Grinbergs wrote: But this thread is about F11-on-XO1. Meaning that yum ought to be defaulting to accessing the F11 repositories. I just now enabled the 'rawhide' repository for my F12-based XO1, and explicitly pulled down sugar-0.87.5-1.fc14.noarch.rpm from there. My point is that the Sugar dependencies may have been upstreamed -- but those not in the inner circle don't know WHERE (choose: in releases F12 or F13 or F14; in repos fedora or rawhide or update or update-testing). Luckily, all the dependencies mentioned in the 0.88 Roadmap were already available in F-11, but I've found a few more which weren't documented: python-decorator (in F11, but not in F11-XO1) python-dateutil (in F11, but not in F11-XO1) python-xklavier (not in F11, needs backporting) I'll build a public yum repo with the sugar packages and missing dependencies as soon as I find some time. Meanwhile, I've convinced rpm into installing the rawhide packages on Fedora 11. In this configuration the Metacity window manager crashes on startup for reasons yet to be determined. After restarting Metacity from the console, Sugar 0.88 showed up and appeared to work normally. -- // Bernie Innocenti - http://codewiz.org/ \X/ Sugar Labs - http://sugarlabs.org/ ___ Devel mailing list Devel@lists.laptop.org http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/devel
