Due to a missing entry in the Intel i810 video bios the screen resolution
1400x1050 cannot be used.
However, some i810 MS Windows drivers replace the in-ram copy of the video bios
by another video bios stored in a file during the booting process.
I found this file and had a look at it:

I am using XFree86 4.4 (OK, it's Xorg 6.7.0); nothing seems to have changed since 4.3,
i should try that version. Could it be something in xaa? The nv driver also doesn't
work
well for me (that was better with 4.3), it locks my system up after a while.
