Did you test which ports it actually uses
(with wireshark or so)?
Btw, I suppose it also logs those ports, which may be easier.

We used tcpdump to get a clue of the communication between the servers. It
uses the both configured ports for a short while, but than continues on
higher ports. The higher port numbers have lots of traffic, compared with
the 4023/4022.
