Activelinks were an ugly kludge that were originally inspired by those Netscape Now! buttons you used to see everywhere until everyone suddenly realized they were hideous back around 1998. Ian. You have completely misunderstood what i was saying. The tooltip was an 'extra', not the explanation of the user interface. Without the tooltip, the activelink works just as well. Almost everybody who is familiar with icons (and that is really almost everybody) will recognise them for what they are, and those few who have not seen icons on their screen yet have surely seen rectangular buttons. I, on the other hand, have always set activelink as a kin of favicon, but one that exists on the Freenet rather than usual web. There is a problem with Activelinks, as they exist on 0,7, but that is a discussion for the completely different thread. I must confess that i didn't know that Activelinks were inspired by Netscape Now! buttons. That is an interesting piece of history, thanks for sharing it. I once was inspired by Red Hot Chilli Peppers' song and wrote a poem, you can read it at http://freedom.libsyn.com/poem_to_hatemongerers_by_volody_a_v_a if you'd like. - Volodya - -- http://freedom.libsyn.com/ Echo of Freedom, Radical Podcast None of us are free until all of us are free.~ Mihail Bakunin -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJNUrAZAAoJENW9VI+wmYas9lcH/0e1oABng0LVk7yxlEjpHG4C sjks33y75oFepos5IL8MAV4uZI35VH9UwrHM1x5hIavxezdDgZrjLIz9XE+XQi/W RGNWVJgq0ePHJEG/tvKLvNy2B1tWN3/I2vlb0UHH6qiFmoHqFtsVixUfzR6uLEUj rFTgl/3eslEJWcf67W9cc8PoL1etm9JqMLI7wNEH9MG5rq86Y2uD1Lit7kP8KU+t Y55qT0VO6QrJcSKVB2XJTHdFu/Ez/myP986U+m8z+iBnSIBbTTXr73lhW3jHVKbx 5zJardCbC+8/I+fJ7rd/9+ZXgwCnQ2p6MhXiBC4hTAs1A4f9p15rysC94i8UqXs= =zu7b -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ Devl mailing list Devl@freenetproject.org http://freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/devl
Re: [freenet-dev] Mockup for a freenet theme: rabbit hole
Nice clean theme. Hi, I created a mockup for a freenet theme. My main goal was getting the structure out of the way of the content, so I went for a horizontal menu with horizontal submenu (persistent) all done with CSS for performance and cleanlyness :) The rest is done with the theme „into the rabbit hole“ in mind (and saving screen estate). Mind the clickable rabbit :) Without much further talk: USK@NliSiGWDer3nZWTj9TTEy~ApJODNWOZKi6nD1BBl3NQ,2oH7tH8KFGFLrKbeopW-2ctG53CdjrgmlKUXueIHmLk,AQACAAE/rabbit- hole/16/ USK@NliSiGWDer3nZWTj9TTEy~ApJODNWOZKi6nD1BBl3NQ,2oH7tH8KFGFLrKbeopW-2ctG53CdjrgmlKUXueIHmLk,AQACAAE/rabbit- hole/16/index_dark.html Or for those who aren’t paranoid about my server-logs :) Bright version: http://draketo.de/proj/freenet-rabbit-hole/ Dark version: http://draketo.de/proj/freenet-rabbit-hole/index_dark.html Based on grayandblue (with some borrowed CSS). Maybe you can move Indexes slightly higher. Maybe by collapsing 'During the next few yours' with the 'more' or 'dismiss' link. I'd also move the 'Note' above the 'During the next few hours'. Once people see indexes, they already can start playing with Freenet after all.
