Hi Damien!

there is no magic formula for all these config decisions, but one pretty
generic good practice would be that the aggregation of your cat. combo
options into a data element should be meaningful. As it is the value that
users will get when they select the DE in data visualizer or pivot table
without details.

>From your example: I would say that using two different data elements for
Malaria and Malaria (deaths) is correct. If you put them under one unique
Malaria DE with a category (cases/deaths), the total number will be mixing
cases and deaths, which is most likely incorrect from an analysis point of
view and very easy to misinterpret by the users.

Another generic good practice advise is to design your configuration
thinking of your desired output (analysis).

Hi Cha,

you are right, we have had those reports in jira and have identified the
tabs to be a bit unstable.
We have redesigned them to a different more stable layout. The new design
will be released in the next versions (not the next 1.0.4 but the following
ones - from December).

Hi all,

thanks for reporting. As Prosper mentioned (thanks!) you can find in the
documentation the supported features in the Android App.
It will help you differentiate when you find a bug or a not supported
feature.

For non-supported features you don't need to reproduce the case in the
demos servers, and you can also create a Jira issue requesting it.
We see this one is quite popular and have created a Jira issue for it. You

Hi Natalie,

as Ignacio said, there is no way to ensure data being deleted. It has been
reported in Jira as ANDROAPP-762


What you can do with the existing functionalities to delete data from your
device is to log out, but this will delete all locally stored data, should
it be sent to the server or not.

thank you for your email.

There is no specific configuration for Android. If it works in the web, and
is documented as supported in Android, then it should work in Android
without any configuration extra.

Could you please create a Jira issue specifying the configuration of your
program rule, the type of the data elements, and the versions used (both
DHIS2 and the Adroid App)?

New round of development starts now to guarantee a release with bugfixing
some enhancements and compatibility with 2.28.

Hi Siva,

the Android App has the same access that restrictions than the web. It is
based in org. unit assignment, program assignment ( via user role ) and
sharing settings, so... there is no direct way to allow access of one user
only the information that s/he has entered. It has to be done through
configuration.

However, in Android , downloading data (Tracked entities, and their program
data) is not automatic, it has to be done explicitly by the user through
the "Download Entities" functionality. As a result, if your users do not
download Tracked Entities, they will only have access to the data that they
have entered in their device. It is not exactly what you were asking for,
but is the closest behavior I can find for your request.

just to add a comment on this,

Being able to apply categoryoption groupsets to indicators (as in the first
example given in the thread) reduces the number of required indicators, it
is really useful for us and also  facilitates analysis for end users, since
they can dissagregate by gender (following the example) in the same way for
both, data elements and indicators.

The limitation is the famous issue "Indicators cannot be specified as a
filter"...  which seems not be something easy to overcome... However,
having indicators being as flexible as data elements for analysis would be
a good solution.

ok, thanks. I´m afraid we have to introduce the translations before
April...

I think we will try to insert them directly in the DB (unless someone tells
us not to do it) I can't imagine updating one by one all the DE...

Has someone in the list done this before? If that is the case, would be
nice to know best practices or recomendations.

Hi Araz, all,

I´ve been also trying it out for testing purposes, very good work!

I don´t realy have features to request for production but I´m sure picking
up GPS coordinates from a map would be great added value.

I observed some issues,

   1. the app is not picking the Description of report date  that is
   assigned when creating the stage, It shows Incident Date no matter what
   is wirtten in there.
   2. I´ve been logging in and out, and when logging in it says try again
   many times... and randomly, in one of them it does conect...

Why the default legend is painting in green the high values and red the low
ones?
I believe that it may apply in some cases, but generally... it ends up in
showing areas high incidence of cases in green.. and low ones in red...
which is not very intuitive for me...

Although...it could be solved if we don´t mix primary colors any more

[Dhis2-users] Access to data in visualization tools

Hi all,

When working with the data visualizer or GIS users see all the hierarchy
(no matter which their OU is)

One could expect users to be able to navigate from their OU and level
downwards... not only their OU with the checkbox but the complete hierarchy
under them.

Is there any way to do that?

it really seems the best approach.  I will keep it in mind. I remember
struggling in India with department names and so on... and it was really a
headache, better to falicitate it as much as possible.

And categories... i preffer to save them for its actual use... since
gender and age are very likely to be requested in forms...

 Third approach would be as you say to dis-aggregate the orgunits. This
 will really complicate potentially the orgunit hierarchy as you note.
 We have observed a pretty severe penalty on performance (with the
 datamart operations) as the number of orgunits increases by
 potentially an order of magnitude or more, if you separate out all of
 the different service levels. It also complicates the data entry a
 bit, although this could potentially be solved with the use of the new
 multi-orgunit data entry forms. I think it also complicates the
 analysis a bit because it is simple with the pivot tables to slice out
 particular data element operands. It can also be done with orgunit
 groups sets however as well.

 I would probably tend to go with the second option, namely use of the
 simple category option combo with multiple data elements for a single
 orgunit. It is not a big deal to create many data elements,
 particularly if you can automate their creation by use of the WebAPI.

  we are trying to figure out the best way to structre an HIS in
dhis2 and would like to share our case with the community.


There it goes...

We need to collect several data sets from some the hospital departments.

IPD - Chrirurgie
 IPD - Maternité
 IPD - Médécins
 IPD - Pediatrie
 OPD - Adultes
 OPD - Médécins
 OPD - Pediatrie
 OPD - SMI-GYN
OPD - Soins

Lets use *Diagnosis form *and *Cases of Malaria* data element for this
example.

Then all the departments should fill in the Diagnosis form and we want to
know the cases of malaria of the 9 departments.

My first approach was to create one org unit per department, and one data
set for the Diagnosis form but i feel it could complicate a bit too
much the hierarchy and also make a very dynamic use of it (new departments,

Other option would be create one unique org unit (hospital) and a different
data sets for every department... but this would imply creating every data
element as many time as departments are in the hospital (9 in this example)
and having to create more every time a new department is included in the
HIS.

Or... create IPD and OPD under hospital... and then every data element as
many times as specialities are (7 in this example)

I don't use categories because i want them for gender and age...

None of these options seem perfect to me... so...
If I got to explain myself and someone already has gone through this... I
would appreciate to know from your experience :)

It goes to the right place, but still level 1 appears and child of level 2,
and new org units are created in level 2.



 I don't think this should be related to caching, but since that is often
 the case with the orgunits, could you also try in the Chrome incognito
 window? I've also seen sometimes that it looks as an OU is selected in the
 tree even though it actually isn't, so you could try deselecting and
 reselecting.



wow... is behaving perfectly in the incognito window... and still wrong in
normal window (after clearing cache) ... how can I avoid this happening

just saw that in the demo the programs are not assigned to any user role
and no program appears in the menus... Since this role-program assignment
is a new thing... maybe is better to assign the programs to the superuser
it in the demo.

[Dhis2-users] Identifiers and Attributes tab - Tabular report

Hi all,

I see Identifiers and Attributes tab has been removed from the Tabular
Report (tracker). They want to use it in Popayán to create lists of
patients enrolled in a program, showing some info from the patient and the
program in rows (just what the report did).

Is there any other way to get this kind of lists?

Hi Jan,

I loaded a backup of the db without coordinates and imported again to make
sure I was importing the gml file I sent.

The result was the same, It seems

-75.982962468276,2.770515163213073

becomes  [-75,9830,2,7705] ...

I´m in Spain now and will travel next week to Colombia

[Dhis2-users] Doubts on the use of Single Event with registration program with repeatable stage

Dear all,

I´m importing some patient legacy data for Colombia pilot project. To do
that, I´ve trying to understang how the patient module works in the db and
I have some doubts on the use of Single Event with registration program
with repeatable stage.

I create the program and introduce data for one patient. Complete the data
entry form ... and it appears a pop-up to schedule the next encounter...
then:

1) Is it possible not to schedule the next encounter there, but when it
happens? (Like a spontaneous clinic visit)
2) Is it posible to re-schedule an encounter?
3) How can I retrieve an encounter to introduce data on it? I don´t find
the way, even if i´m on the date the ecounter was scheduled for.

- I don´t see the options Tracking-Visit Schedule  Tracking- Program
Tracking that I´ve read in the documentation, in case it has smth to do
with the limitations I found.
(Version 2.9 Build Revision 7897)  I´m using admin acccount.

Following this functionality, The way I can do it now is creating a new
instance of the program everytime a patient comes (even if he/she has come
before) So in the end, for a single patient, I have as many instances of
the program as visits he/she made, with one encounter per instance with
data... and one preogrammed but never accesed..

Any help on understanding this will be much appreciated.

they want to keep the patient data, so your second option would be best.
I understand, then, that every new event will create a new instance of the
program.

Could you please confirm it is ok not to see the options *Tracking-Visit
Schedule* * Tracking- Program Tracking* that appear in the
documentation?? Have they been removed?

[Dhis2-users] Dynamic fields in program stages

Dear all,

 I need to know if there is any way to create dinamic fields in a program
stage, so the value is calculated in the data entry form. i.e.
Intergenesic period would be calculated using the 2 fields last delivery
day and last menstrual period, or... Body Mass Index with height and
weight...

I´ve been looking around and cannot do it with data elements, aggregate
formulas or indicators for differents reasons...
Has anyone had these needs before and found a solution?

[Dhis2-users] Error when introducing patient data

Dear all,

I´ve updated a 2.6 instance of dhis to 2.9. I´ve  done it gradually,
version by version, and everything is ok but the patient data entry screen.
When I try to introduce data to any program I get an error saying something
like Failure while storing values ​​with error code [object Object]

I´ve created the option set to replace the categories in the patient domain
data elements, but still I get the error.

Please find attached the pop up image and the log

This is an instance for Peru. It would be nice to give them a complete
instance with some patient forms.
If it doesn´t work... We´ll give them Org.units, GIS and aggregated data
forms... which not bad anyway.

[Dhis2-users] Summary Report

Hi all,

I´m trying to visualize the summary report of a program... and get no
activity. Even if I just registered a patient , enrolled it in the program,
and introduced some data for the stage.

I have another program, which is single event, and for that one it works
perfectly...

Am I missing any step?

I´m using versio 2.6 (yes, I have to update, will soon) but for now need to
keep on 2.6...

Any clue?

Constant values are accessible from the indicators num. / denom. definition.

this is a very limited use of constants... but you are rigth, by definition
they should never change.

I'm using MySLQ.

There is no exception or message in the log when I lock the data...
I get the Data Succesfully Locked screen but seems like nothing happens
inside
